I believe the lottery is a collective act of murder because 1 random citizen is killed each year for no apparent reason. I don't think killing others solely due to tradition is necessary. I think the civilians agree to the ceremony because that's the environment they were raised in. I think they are brainwashed based on the societal values. I don't see a purpose or benefit to the lottery. They seem to abandon all reason for a believed "benefit" in sacrificing one person.

The lottery is a collective act of murder because there was no real reason why they do it every year. there is no science behind doing a sacrafice leading to a good harvest and traditon does not justify the acts because its taking a person life for no reason.

I think the lottery is a collective act of murder because although it is a tradition, there's no reason for it. They don't get any benefits out of it and they're just doing it because they're used to doing it. Other towns got rid of it because they realized it was wrong, but most of the people in this town are brainwashed so they don't realize the problem.

In our society it is seemed as a horrific unjust murder. However, in their society this is seen as a tradition and is justified. In my eyes tradition is important in some aspects, but in aspects like this I feel it is murder.

The lottery is just randomly murdering people which in their eyes feels just and have sound reasoning. To normal people though that is not ok and the tradition seems crazy.
