Though I was not always set on becoming a teacher, I had always been drawn to it! Even in 1st grade, I enjoyed passing out papers and playing school rather than going to recess. I realized in high school that I had a passion for working with kids and watching them learn and grow. I was inspired by my experiences with my teachers who knew me personally and made an impact on my life. I struggled to learn especially with reading, and I was diagnosed with dyslexia. Now I want to turn around and be able to pour into kids, like my teachers poured into me. I was also inspired by the teachers in my family! They taught, not because it was the easiest thing to do and not because they were making lots of money but because they really cared about the lives of their students!

Now, as an Elementary Education major, I have been able to have experience in the classroom! This has been so helpful for me to get a feel for my strengths and my weaknesses as well as my preferences when it comes to teaching. Understanding my strengths and weaknesses inside the classroom helps me come back to college and focus on what I need to learn and improve on. I also have been able to realize that I want to teach in the lower elementary level specifically 1st grade! Watching experienced teachers really inspires me to take what I am learning very seriously and apply it to my future career!

My goals for the future!

Along with graduating with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, I am also on a 5-year master's plan. I plan on getting my masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I aspire to teach in 1st grade. I do want to stay in the Northwest Arkansas area, maybe Rodgers or Bentonville! With my master's degree I hope to be a curriculum coordinator for a school district as well as write curriculum after a couple years getting experience in the classroom! I want to be the teacher that students remember, in a positive way, for years. Though I know that it is ambitious to strive to have a significant impact on all of my student lives but that is my goal! I want to lead a kind, safe, colorful classroom where each student is comfortable and works their hardest to learn!
