Glomerulonephritis know as glomeruli is a cluster of capillaries around the end of a kidney tubule, where waste products are filtered from the blood. It may be the direct result of an infection or a drug toxic to the kidneys, or it may result from a disease that affects the entire body, like diabetes or lupus. Many different kinds of diseases can cause swelling or scarring of the nephron or glomerulus. Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis is sometimes treated with plasmapheresis, which removes components of the blood that could be causing the inflammation.

Kidney stones are hard deposits of minerals and acid salts that stick together in concentrated urine. The cause for kidney stones is that your urine may lack substances that prevent crystals from sticking together, creating an ideal environment for kidney stones to form. The treatment for this includes pain relievers and drinking lots of water to help pass the stone.
