We talked about Ed Tech Standards:

pg 27 3.a. (Students collaborate with a teacher to employ appropriate research techniques to locate digital resources that will help them in their learning process)

pg 27 3.b. (Students learn how to evaluate sources for accuracy, perspective, credibility and relevance).

I really liked learning about resources such as Magic School AI's standards unpacker. Some standards are a bit convoluted in phrasing, so I think having learning targets easily available for standards can be very helpful!

I'm interested to see what other tools Magic School AI has!

pg 25. 2.a. Students demonstrate an understanding of the role an online identity plays in the digital world and learn the permanence of their decisions when interacting online.

I think we can use what we learned about PSAs and digital citizenship in our future teaching when we are planning lessons around digital citizenship, and in general any time we are using technology as a class.

I wonder what other resources we could find about teaching digital citizenship in an exciting way! I think finding a way to engage all students in lessons about digital citizenship is really important in our current, and future, digital age.

A CS Standard that was addressed in class is:

Develop programs with sequences and simple loops, to express ideas or address a problem. (P. 5.2)

This standard was addressed with activities like Rosie's Runtime.

I could use unplugged coding activities like Rosie's Runtime in my future classroom to teach students about computer science. Students who build the sequence of steps get to learn what it is like to be a programmer, while the person playing Rosie gets to see what it is like to be a computer.

I'd love to learn about more unplugged coding activities, especially some that might be more engaging to older students.
