When hearing the phrase “be a man”, as a woman it doesn’t effect me as much hearing it but from a male standpoint I feel they are always pressured to act as this tough, non-emotional man that society views them as but most men don’t feel like they can open up as something more than just the person they are viewed by as society. The phrase “act like a lady” I can relate to from being a girl in the world of 2022. In today’s society females are advertised as the object for a male, and weak without someone by there side. For me being a lady means being strong and independent by myself and standing up for my position and place in the world today.

If they were to express those emotions they’d be seen as weak or feminine. Something I also noticed is that women are stereotyped as too emotional but men have these emotions as well, just told to keep it to themselves. Is it possible that women are stereotyped this way because they actually express themselves? Would men also be said to be too emotional if they weren’t told to conceal how they feel?
