In order to publicize the group, I will create a one page infographic that can be distributed by print, and electronically. Hard copies of the infographic will be sent home with all sixth grade students, as well as displayed in frequently visited areas, such as the library, the cafeteria, near the restrooms, and in hallways. Digital copies will be added to the campus website, as well as sent through the districts digital flyer platform.

Teachers and other faculty will be notified through email, in advance with an attached copy of the infographic, to be aware of any possible scheduling conflicts. Hard copies will be displayed in the faculty lounge, on the faculty announcement board, and in the work room.

This poster will be used to assist in establishing group norms. Each group member will review the guidelines individually, then together as a group. After reviewing, the students, along with the counselor will openly discuss other guidelines that can be added. The students and counselor will then agree upon three additional ground rules to add to the poster. At the beginning of each session, the ground rules will be briefly reviewed as a reminded of group expectations.

Stage one: To build relationships, students will complete introduction activities as a means to learn something interesting about one another. The counselor will review confidentiality parameters, as well as give examples on what a group discussion could look like. Students will then be given the opportunity to anonymously share a recent conflict that they have experienced.

Stage two: Students will be encouraged to partner with a different student each week, as they explore strategies on solving conflict, and rebuilding relationships. This will give students the opportunity to see another person's perspective. Each session will end with a five minute closing discussion, for the counselor to be able to determine if students are struggling with understanding certain concepts.

Stage three: During the closure for the group, students will discuss how participating in the group has made them feel, overall about conflict, and how to handle it. This will give students an opportunity to reflect on pivotal moments during group sessions. Finally, the counselor will review the importance of confidentiality, as well as the importance of supporting others from the group.

After reviewing the various leadership styles I believe that the participative leadership style will be the most effective. Within this style encouragement is used to foster participation (Cherry, 2020). Participation can be a daunting task for a middle school student, but with enough encouragement a student can feel motivated to accomplish a given task.

This supports me by ensuring that any student that participates in the group, is doing so legally with a parent/guardian's consent.
