From the first read of the transcript we can see that Tim is in the telegraphic stage of Child Language Acquisition. This is clearly highlighted through his ability to use functioning sentences however has faults in his grammar, such as syntax. This is shown where he says 'in the room bedroom.' This proves that he isn't yet able to get past the telegraphic stage yet. Tim repeated the concrete noun 'room but probably then realized that he can make it less vague and therefore broke it down to 'bedroom'.

Primarily we can deduct from Text A that Tim is most likely within the telegraphic stage of development. This can be shown through Tim's use of predominantly declarative sentences, most commonly in the present tense, for example "that's just a little one." Tim also includes both co-coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, "and" and "cos" within his utterances. However, Tim has not developed/progressed to the post-telegraphic stage as he does not yet have complete communicative competence; Tim's utterances are sometimes broken, such as "it was daddy get (.)". A child within the post-telegraphic stage is able to form complete sentences with the correct syntax, proving once again that Tim is leaning more towards the telegraphic stage of development. Tim also uses proto-words to replace the base adjective "broken" and the concrete noun "crocodile." Tim implicates diminutives onto his concrete nouns, for example "daddy" and "tummy", which is a common feature of the telegraphic stage. Tim is also not yet capable of pronouncing fricative syllables, specifically "k", shown in his mispronunciation of the words "broken" and "crocodile". He uses mostly plosives within his speech, however a child in the post-telegraphic stage would have a firmer grasp of both fricative and plosive pronunciations.

The transcript shows how Tim is interacting with his grandmother who is the caregiver. Therefore we can identify that Tim is currently in the stage of telegraphic of child language acquisition. For example, in text A Tim says 'and Izzy's going in the cot'. In that case, we can tell that the grandmother is a sympathetic listener, as she seems to understand what Tim is suggesting. Such as 'oh there's a hole in Izzy's cot'. This means that Tim starts to use preposition, possession and pronouns. The data shows that the

From this data we can tell that Tim is in the telegraphic stage of development. We can tell this because his language isn't complex enough to fall into the post-telegraphic stage. Tim mostly uses declarative sentences, for example, "there's a hole in Izzy's cot". This conveys that Tim can identify simple things clearly and efficiently. Although Tim is using concrete nouns often and correctly, he struggles to pronounce the concrete noun "crocodile" so the gran corrects him so in the future he can learn and mimic the correct pronunciation

By looking at text A, we can gather that Tim is in the telegraphic stage of language development. This is evidenced through Tim's use of declarative sentences which are not yet complex enough to be classed as post-telegraphic stage language. Tim is also able to use a variety of concrete nouns like 'daddy', 'cot' and 'crocodile, however his language is fairly limited to concrete nouns rather than abstract. Additionally as well as using concrete nouns in his speech, he is also able to use pre-modifiers such as 'big crocodile' to make his utterances more detailed, which will ensure that he is understood. In Tim's vocabulary, he does not use pronouns when referring to his sister or his father but understands that the third person singular pronoun 'she' refers to his sister.

When Tim first said the concrete noun 'crocodile' he has trouble saying it which results to gran re-casting the concrete noun and giving him help and support saying it correctly. This supports the Behaviorist Theory

Tim's dominately declarative utterances reflect his speech as being in the telegraphic developmental stage. Throughout the interaction with 'Gran' and 'Mum', Tim uses only concrete nouns in replacement of personal pronouns yet is still represented as understanding their meaning. This is identifiable in the second interaction between Tim and Gran: "and Izzy's going in the cot, "she's in the cot." Despite Tim only referring to his sister using the concrete noun "Izzy" he understands that the personal pronoun "she" means the same. Furthermore, Tim's short declarative utterance represents his difficulty in producing the correct grammar and syntax for the tense he is speaking and is continually seen throughout the transcript: "it was daddy get." The original present tense utterance: "And Izzy's going in the cot" appears as if it's a repeat of something Tim has heard before due to the incorrect tense in relation to the context it is spoken. However, Tim is identified as being able to use the conjunction 'and' as a funtion word at the begining of his declarative sentence which highlights Tim's understanding that conjunctions contribute to sentences by lengthening them. These features represent the fact that Tim is yet to reach the post-telegraphic stage as he does not use all of the sentence moods: only declarative rather than imperative or interogative. Additionally, Tim has many pauses when his utterances are longer and more complex which suggests he has difficulty forming compound and complex sentence structures.

From the transcript we can infer that Tim is in the telegraphic stage of language development. I can tell this because Tim is able to use a series of different utterances and sentences. For example he uses a declarative sentence when 'she's in the cot' He also uses a large majority if concrete nouns within his speech. such as 'daddy' and 'bedroom' which shows he is not yet developed enough to expand his speech to more complex words.

Social interaction is key to Child Language Acquisition as we can infer from this transcript. This transcript involves a boy named Tim who is 3 years, 10 months old. He is interacting with his family. I would firmly place Tim within the Telegraphic stage, evident to this decision; we know that he would be placed within this stage due to the fact that there is enough information for the sentence’s to make sense. This stage includes three or four word sentences, of which Tim demonstrates clearly, “that’s just a little one.” The most common words are the words of this stage include social interaction. For example, please, bye and no. Again Joey demonstrates this in the transcript "no (3.0) not in the tummy (2.0) get out." I have firmly placed Tim within the Telegraphic stage, as opposed to placing him between stages due to the fact that he is mainly speaking in declarative sentences, "and there's a hole is Izzy's (.) cot (1.0)", his sentences aren't complex enough to be placed between the Telegraphic and Post-Telegraphic.

At three years and ten months, Tim is able to speak and interact verbally with adults in a more mature way than a child who is in the one word stage or two word stages could. However, it becomes clear that there are immature themes within his speech. An example of this is the prevalence of both declarative sentences and nouns, both concrete and proper. The declarative sentences such as ‘and Izzy’s going in the cot’ show us that Tim’s thinking is straightforward and to the point, which is standard for children his age. The concrete nouns, both ‘cot’ and ‘hole’ are repeated along with the sentence repetition, and the proper noun ‘Izzy’ is used instead of the pronoun ‘she’, which also applies to ‘daddy’. He can clearly understand pronouns as gran refers to Izzy as ‘she’ and he comprehends it, however he does not use them himself. This indicates his knowledge of language is vaster than what he uses himself.

Social interaction is an important factor in child language acquisition. From Text A, we can gain an understanding that Tim is in the Telegraphic stage of language development. This is evident in his repeated use of concrete nouns. For example, Tim uses “crocodile”, “bedroom” and “cot” to express himself. Clearly, Tim has not developed his use of different types of nouns. This proves that he is in the Telegraphic stage. Furthermore, Tim struggles to pronounce the concrete noun "crocodile", highlighting that his grammar has not fully developed. In contrast to this, Tim's use of the pre-modifying adjective "big", gives us a sense that he is able to express and comprehend size. This rare use of language may offer that he is starting to develop Post-Telegraphic stage language features, although he is firmly in the Telegraphic stage, as his use of concrete nouns and mainly declarative sentences, such as "there's a hole in Izzy's (.) cot" confirms his language hasn't developed into the final stage of Child Language Acquisition.

This is seen with his use of declarative sentences such as; “Izzy’s going in the cot”. They are mostly present tense. But he is not any further because the majority of his words are concrete nouns such as “crocodile” and his language is not complex enough to exceed the telegraphic stage and go into post telegraphic lanuage. It is clear that Tim has not yet developed the full use of language to move onto complex sentences and use of many nouns other than concrete ones.

Tim is in the telegraphic stage of his speech. His language is not complex enough to have exceeded this stage. Examples to back this include the fact he cant pronounce the concrete noun 'crocodile'. Another example is that he doesn't use pronouns but understands that 'she' refers to his sister. These points show that Tim is developing as he can understand simple things and slightly more complex points even if he can't say them himself.
