Steam driven locomotives changed how products got to consumers. The travel time was significantly decreased compared to a wagon or boat. These steam locomotives were on a scheduled timeline to transport goods way faster and were not as affected by weather as much as other travel methods.

1839-Opium War

this war was caused by the stopping of trades of opium by Britain, the Chinese went to war not knowing of the power Britain had. Britain had easily beaten the Chinese and as a result of britain winning the treaty of nanking was signed and stated that Britain gets the island of hong kong, allowed any free trade with china merchants and forced china to pay for damaged opium. In result this led China to great debt.

1867-The Scramble for Africa

As resources was becoming undiscovered in Africa every single European country fled to get some part of Africa under their control as part of their separate empire to get their resources for their own country. It was invasion,occupation and division. England gained vast portions of Africa which increased their global influence. Obviously all of Africa's land was took from them and they faced violence and social and cultural disruptions.

a meeting of representatives and colonial power to talk about and negotiate the claims on different parts of Africa, this was so necessary because it could have caused avoidance to major violence and disagreement, although there was still some because the the competition for land. Also Africans were so negatively impacted because they were forced into labor and forced out of their land.

Macadam roads made the path of travel more smooth and less bumpy or rocky so it was easier for horses and wagons to go over, it helped move and transport goods faster and safer.

1838-Queen Victoria's coronation

Queen Victoria's rise to be queen became a period of industrial progress, cultural change and expansion of land. Under her control the British empire expanded significantly making britain a global superpower and influencing politics and trades.
