DANCE: THE PHYSICAL FORM

Point 1: According to "Dance: THE PHYSICAL FORM," "To dance is to be knowledgeable about the stories of the ancestral heroes." This bit of text shows that aboriginal dances represent stories passed down from generation, and being able to dance shows that you are knowledgeable of the stories of your ancestors. Also, "This allows large groups of people to demonstrate their clan rights in front of an audience," shows that dancing is part of demonstrating their clan's rights to an audience.

Point 2: People in the United States do not, usually, have a tribe or clan with a large amount of people all believing in the same thing, as the Aborigines. Dance has affected the way that the aborigines live, unlike America. Their lives are very different from the normal life of an American citizen.

Point 3: In the Aborigines dances, they incorporate nature. In their dances, they will act as if they are snakes, or birds, etc. In the video, the kids in the dance are trying to act like animals involved in their cultures.

ART: THE VISUAL FORM

Point 1: According to "ART: THE VISUAL FORM," "Aboriginal art is based on important ancient stories; even contemporary aboriginal art, is based on stories and symbols centered on "the Dreamtime," which is the period in which indigenous people believe the world was created." This bit of text shows that art is very important to the Aboriginal because it showcases important ancient stories about Dreamtime, which is the spiritual belief throughout of all of the Aboriginal tribes. Also, "

Point 2: Aborigines differs from American art on because of a lot of reasons. Aboriginal art is different from the art people in the United States are used to because it incorporates nature, along with a very vibrant color scheme.

Point 3: In Aboriginal art, the majority of the pieces of art made are relating to animals. The most notable animals that I have seen in Aboriginal art, are snakes, kangaroos, and crocodiles.

Lore: BLACK DUCK AND WATER RAT

Point 1: In "Black Duck and Water Rat" it says, "Black Duck and Water Rat is a story from the Dreamtime. This legend explains the origins of the curious platypus which first appeared many years ago in Australia." This lore shows what the Aborigines believe in. Their spiritual belief has myth-type ways of showing how certain things on the Earth were made and why. Also, "They also told each other the hiding places for their enemies - the big snakes, the eagles, and Bunyip the water monster, who all loved to eat delicious water birds." This also hits upon the myth-like, folk-tale like type of story telling by using a water monster, which was most likely not real.

Point 2: The life of an Aborigine's religion and spiritual beliefs differ greatly from that of an American citizen's. Most of the population of America is one of the 4 major religions in the world, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and Hinduism. I wouldn't think that a lot of people's main religion is Dreamtime in the United States.

Point 3: It seems to be, that most of the Aboriginal beliefs are related to animals and nature. I think that the spiritual beliefs of the Aboriginal people reflect this thought that people are just as important as nature, and the Aboriginal people wouldn't disrespect or harm nature purposefully because of their beliefs.
