Well done to our Sandfield District Sports squad, who competed against other Guildford schools in an athletics tournament at The Spectrum on Tuesday 16th June.

There were some incredible individual performances on both the track and in the field events, alongside strong team efforts in the relays. We were incredibly proud of all the children, who gave their all, demonstrating resilience, determination, and a real drive to succeed.

The children showed excellent sportsmanship throughout, and there was a fantastic sense of team spirit across the squad.

Many thanks to all the families who came along to support—it was wonderful to see a Sandfield banner in the stands—and to all the staff who supported either at the event or back at school.

A truly great whole-team effort—well done, everyone!

Hot, Hot, Hot

A reminder to all families that next week is set to be very hot, with temperatures close to or exceeding 30°C.

Please could children come to school prepared by:

Bringing a hat

Bringing a water bottle

Applying sunscreen before school

There is also the option for children to wear their PE kit, which is looser and cooler in this weather.

This week, Reception travelled back to the land before time, exploring dinosaurs and ancient reptiles.

The children learned to describe different species using scientific words like carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore. They also discovered that Earth once had a single supercontinent, Pangaea, which later split into the seven continents we know today. Each child made a salt dough fossil to take home as a souvenir!

PE day for Reception Class is on Mondays 

Key Stage 1 had an amazing Peruvian adventure! We were amazed by the incredible costumes, and the children thoroughly enjoyed tasting a variety of fruits from Peru.

We could not believe how much knowledge they had gained about this fascinating country. They listened beautifully as Sacha's dad shared stories about his family's time in Peru and showed some truly spectacular photographs.

A huge thank you to Sacha's family for helping to bring Peru to life for the children, and to all of our parents for the hard work and effort that went into creating such fantastic costumes.

PE days for Year 1 & Year 2 are on Mondays and Wednesdays 

This week, Year 3 and Year 4 have been bringing their learning to life through a range of fun, creative, and engaging activities linked to their recent topics.

Year 3 have used their artistic skills to create sketches of Tutankhamun. The children carefully applied their knowledge of the famous pharaoh, paying close attention to the distinctive features of his iconic mask. 

Meanwhile, Year 4 have been learning about Egyptian writing and symbols by designing and creating their own cartouches. The children enjoyed discovering the importance of cartouches in Ancient Egyptian culture and carefully used hieroglyphics to represent their names.

PE days for Year 3 & Year 4 are Tuesdays & Thursdays 

Our pupils have been working hard in their French lessons each week with Mr Marchiafava, showing great enthusiasm and a really positive attitude towards their learning. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow, particularly in their speaking tasks, where they are making excellent progress. We are very proud of their efforts and the enthusiasm they bring to learning a new language.

PE days for Year 5 & Year 6 are Thursdays and Fridays. All children will need to wear PE kits on Tuesdays for swimming.

Surrey County Council Issues Penalty Notices to parents/carers when a child has unauthorised absences from school, Surrey as an alternative to prosecution. This applies in cases of:

1.    Truancy identified by police or attendance officers.

2.    Term-time leave of 5 days (10 sessions) or more, unless exceptional circumstances are approved by the Headteacher.

3.    Poor attendance, with 10+ unauthorised absences in 10 school weeks, including being late after registration.

First offence: £160 per parent/carer

Second offence: £160 per parent/carer

Third offence: No further notices—Surrey County Council will consider prosecution in Magistrates Court.

They worked really hard doing all of the baking and decorating themselves. They designed the sign and marketed it to their classmates who came out in force to support them!

They raised an incredible £200 for the Salvation Army.
