I have been using dice in my classroom lately to help us come up with fractions to plot on a number line. This seems to be a novel way to get students motivated. I thought the improper fractions would have confused them much more than it did. I believe the act of rolling their own numbers contributed to their confidence and success.

I have used flexible tape to help students with measuring. Being able to fold it off at the end helps them understand that the measurement ends at and does not continue past the fold.

I have had success using these to help teach students fractions. I was only able to find the circle style ones in my classroom. I circles have their place, but I think these rectangle ones are a better starting place. At least in my mind, they are more intuitive!

I have a big number line, -20 to 20, hanging above my white board. I also have a lot of individual number lines that students are always allowed to use. The individual ones are great for helping students see how subtracting a bigger number takes you into negative numbers.
