There are thousands of students in LAUSD, so some of it needs to be business-like. However, teachers make it not a business, because they can make a creative, fun classroom. They do not want to shut down our school because they hate kids, they just want the best learning environment for everyone.

I don't think iLEAD is a business. The teachers are enthusiastic and proud of their learners. Yes, in some ways it can be a business. But I don't think it is. People in businessess see what they do as a job, instead of a career, or something they love to do, like the teachers at iLEAD. People in businessess get paid more than teachers (for the most part). iLEAD isn't just a class full of kids sitting in a small room all day. iLEAD is a group of kids (that work well with you) sitting in an open space with project based learning. You aren't just another person in a crowd, you are seen. Your voice is heard, unlike a normal school or a business.

School is a business: School is a business. By the
definition,noun

1.a person's regular occupation, profession, or trade. That perfectly describes a school if you look at it.

School is not a buisness:
Schools even though they fit the dictionary definition of "business" it does not fit the cultural definition Dr. Gorge McKenna was referring to, he was referring to "business" meaning "serious" and schools especially this one do not fit that definition as it is open, fun, and light. A school where everything is serious makes an environment that makes kids hate school whereas this school inspires a love of learning

Yes, Business is defined as "the practice of making one's living by engaging in commerce." When you promote a school you not only have the intention of educating children, but, you also have to make enough of a profit to pay your teachers/staff and make a descent salary. When you cross the line of trying to make profit, or making the corrporation as big as possible you cross the line of being a business.
Another aspect to look at his colleges as well as private schools, where the main goal is to make a profit, especially when it is there main intention to make money it is a business.

I don’t know. It really depends on how you look at school. If you’re a teacher then yes. You teach and get paid. That’s like a business. If you’re a student then no. You don’t really think of your work as a “job” so I just assume you don’t get a “job” until you’re older.

Depends on the school. Private or Public. Private schools are
administered through the prism of profit, public schools are as much of a business as a our government because they are publicly administered and regulated. Private schools have their own choice in curriculum because they rely off of private funding from students much like investors investing in a private business.

Schools might not be a business because it is something required for all children to do, and they do not have a choice. This may change in college, when kids get to pick their own classes, but when it comes to, say, getting a job, you have a choice in what you want to do, while in the beginning years of school (elementary) you don't get the option to pick what you want to learn.

I think in some cases it can be a business. 1 reason is because they get paid for the students attending the school. 2 they compete against other schools in some cases. 3 teachers get paid and get checks. It’s there work. But it’s also not. Kids don’t get money and the teachers are setting up (or supposed to be) kids to have success in life. I don’t really know what it is. This is just what I think.

I think school is and isn't a business. For students it is not a business because you haft to go to it when you are a kid and you don't getto be payed. Though it is a business because students get to choose where to go to school which makes it a little like a business. For teachers it is much more of a business because all teachers choose to teach, some teachers call school their job, and if they teach for a long time they get payed to teach.
