1. intention

• seek knowledge to please Allah and benefit others.

2. respect and helping others

• eg : lecturers, friends, cleaner and people around us.

• in return, they will pray for us for the good deeds.

• "sebaik-baik teman adalah kawan yang menunjuk ke arah kebaikan"

4. good habit

• seek knowledge to please Allah and benefit others, similar to how one should choose nutritious food for health.

5. pray, endeavour, reliance

• do it with sincerity

• put in the necessary effort to achieve your goals (usaha mesti setimpal dengan apa yang kita nak).

• after doing our part, we must place our trust in Allah's wisdom and timing.

• accepting that the outcome may not always align with our expectations but trusting that it is for the best.

1. facts about al-quran :

• 114 chapters (surah)

• 30 juzu'

• the first verse was revealed to Prophet Muhammad when he was 40 years old through the angel Jibril.

• the longest surah is Al-Baqarah while the shortest one is surah Al-Kawthar

1. shahadah

• the muslim profession of faith - affirms one's belief in the Oneness of Allah and the Prophethood of Muhammad

• a sincere expression of a muslim's commitment to islam

2. salah

• the ritual prayer performed five times a day

• muslims are encouraged to pray in congregation at their local mosque

3. zakat

• an alms tax paid to the poor and needy

• the amount paid depends on the wealth of the donor

• the funds are distributed in the community

4. sawm

• fasting during the month of Ramadan

5. hajj

• a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca

1. believe in Allah SWT

• surah al-fatihah - Oneness of Allah (Tawhid)

2. believe in His Angels

• Angels are created by Allah from light.

• they are considered pure and noble beings who do not possess physical desires or emotions like humans.

• Angels are created to worship Allah and carry out His commands without question.

• "They disobey not (from executing) the commands they receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded." surah at-tahrim verse 6

3. believe in His Books

• Zabur, Taurat, Injil & Al-Quran.

4. believe in Rasul and Anbiya

• surah al-fatihah verse 5

• surah nuh > encourages individuals to engage more frequently in seeking forgiveness for their sins and shortcomings.

5. believe in the Hereafter

• each person will be held accountable for their deeds, with Allah weighing their good and bad actions to determine their fate in the afterlife.

6. believe in Qada' & Qadar

• Qada' means Allah's decree or judgment about everything that happens in the universe.

• Qadar refers to destiny or the measure of things, indicating how and when events will occur. it encompasses the specifics of Allah's decree.

• ihsan is a concept of excellence, perfection, and doing good that is a core part of a Muslim's faith. It is a way to show one's inner faith through actions and deeds. 

ihsan in the daily life.

1. End of the World – The world is destroyed by the first trumpet.

2. Resurrection – All people are resurrected from their graves.

3. Gathering – Everyone is gathered on the flat land for judgment.

4. Judgment – Each person’s deeds are weighed on the scale.

5. Bridge of Sirat – People cross a bridge over Hell, based on their deeds.

6. Destinations – People are sent to Paradise (Jannah) or Hell (Jahannam).

7. Eternal Life – People in Paradise live forever in bliss, and those in Hell are punished.

This is the basic flow of events leading to the final judgment.

• using loving and respectful titles

• kindness and compassion

• make dua for them

2. adab towards neighbours

• treat them with kindness and respect

• protect our neighbour's dignity

• help them out

• maintain good relations

• be tolerant and forgiving + being humble

3. adab in friendship

• being kind and respectful

• be tolerant and forgiving + being humble

• avoiding jealousy and backbiting

• being loyal and forgiving

• support each other

my suggestion :

• instead of just lectures, make it a two-way discussion hehe

🦦 overall i am satisfied with my usrah 1 this sem ! hoping to get the same usrah faci for next sem because she’s the best. plus, maybe i could escape from introducing myself again ~

Reflection and Self-Accountability

1. Learning from mistakes

• Islam emphasises learning from the past.

• this doesn't have to be ourselves who experienced it, but we also can learn and reflect ourselves in someone's story and take lessons from theirs.

• sometimes when we see other people's mistakes, it reminds us to be extra careful on deciding/doing something so we can learn from their mistakes without actually facing the same problems.

• eg: the stories of Pharaoh or Qarun

2. Seeing ourselves in the story

• in Islam, self-reflection (muhasabah) is encouraged. whenever we see a character's flaws in a story, we are reminded to check ourselves and work on our weaknesses.

• eg: in a situation / someone's story that is bad, which that person is an arrogant type of person to the point where he abandon his family for the sake of wealth. so, we can start reflect ourselves and think "if i were in that situation, will i do the same?". from here, we will start noticing our own flaws and therefore, we can work on them.

3. motivating change

• sometimes it doesn't have to be something that is good to motivate ourselves, but otherwise also will do.

• eg: if someone fails because they gave up too early (shows failure), it reminds us to work harder in order to success.

• Salah : Instill awareness of Allah, restrains from immoral behaviour and encourages obedience.

• Sawm (Fasting) : Develops taqwa, empathy and discipline which helps believers draw closer to Allah.

• Zakah : To purifies wealth and self, fostering generousity and reducing greed.

• Hajj : Disciplines believers to follow Allah's commandments and abstain from prohibited acts.

• What is Salah ?

Salah is the compulsory prayer performed five times daily by Muslims as a key act of worship and devotion to Allah.

Mufti Menk delves into the historical and spiritual aspects of this practice, highlighting its importance in fostering empathy, gratitude, and a sense of unity among Muslims. He also discusses the broader lessons of submission to God's will and the significance of sharing blessings with others.

For Muslims who are not on Hajj, it is still a great day. We are encouraged to fast. The Prophet ﷺ said fasting on this day will remove the sins of last year and the year to come. This is a big reward from Allah. It is also the best day to make dua. On Arafah, Allah listens to our prayers more than on any other day. So we should ask for anything — for help, peace, or to forgive our sins.

On this day, a verse from the Qur’an was also sent down. It said that Islam is now complete. That makes this day even more special. The Prophet also said Arafah and the days after are days of joy. So we should remember Allah, do good things, and be thankful.

In short, Arafah is a day full of blessing. We should try to fast, pray more, say zikr, and ask for Allah’s mercy. Whether you are on Hajj or not, this day is a gift from Allah.

I would like to suggest having an outdoor bonding day that includes light tazkirah, games, and team-building activities.
