- What is the root of African slavery in America?/What is the root of African slavery in Africa?  How are these connected?

- The Southern colonies dependence on agriculture was a big factor for slavery's arrival into the colonies.  What alternatives were there for farmers in the south opposed to slavery?  What are strengths and weaknesses of each alternative?
