The group this week was put together as an initial mess around however we decided we wanted to get a head start on the work for the term. This group consist of: Julia-me-, Ben, Georgina and Jess H.

Targets
The idea for this is the week was to simply sort some ideas for what we could do as a group. We also wanted to make sure that as a group we involved everyone with a part of their choice of something they were comfortable with or trying something new. This was achieved. This was achieved by allowing Georgina to play drums which allows her to experience a new instrument. Also allowing Jess to play the keyboard, this is something she is used to as she is a good performing however with a band this is not something that she often does thus creating a new experience.

The development
The development of the piece was from me showing a song. I had asked an opinion of a song. After listening to it the ideas of using an electric guitar to accompany the acoustic was put forward to match the sound with the emphasis of the two together. The idea of this was then followed by the adding of the keyboard which gave the sound that brought it back down to the feel of the relaxed but meaningful way I intended. Finally the drums were last to be added which we were unsure of that particular moment but decided on something nice and simple.

Work on
The things we need to individually work on are still a few due to us not working on the song for that long. For example :
Julia- learn lyrics so I can be more focused on the guitar playing better and also timing for the chorus.
Jess- Figure out the ending to make sure that it fits the feel.
Ben-Also try and clean up the ending to fit with the feel and keyboard.
Gina- Practice on the drums a little more to make sure the confidence
is there and stays in time.

Feedback (peers)
As we wanted to have a first recording of this, we decided to ask for someone to help with this. In the process we received feedback from that which was helpful. The feedback, was giving advice to us and also explaining what they liked. The response was along the lines of : it was good and it worked well together. However It would sound better maybe if there was a bass added, we are in the process of this and someone has been asked we just need to incorporate them into the song it self. This was Louis. They also suggested that we use a full drum kit so that during the build up section of the song, the sound can be varied instead of using just the toms and snare. This was also very helpful because it allows Georgina to experiment more with the skills she can use on the drums.

Development through rehearsals
So far this rehearsal allowed us to develop some skills already. Personally, I have been able to pick strings on guitar and sing simultaneously which with others is a new technique for me as I'm not used to this. Georgina has learned how to use the technique of crosstick and double kick drum on the drums themselves. And also learning to have more confidence vocally.

Group and individual productivity
This week I believe we all worked 10/10. This is because we did work for the full allocated time with what we had and we therefore for a lot done. Contribution from everyone, allowed us to come up with ideas to allow us to blend as a group yet all show some type of new technique and or one we are comfortable with.

The groups had been decided and I was put with Joe, Tyler and George. We all vary with music taste so we firstly wanted to establish a song and genres. This week we were able to pick one song with a punk upbeat vibe to it. This was all the small things by Blink 182.

Targets
Targets we wanted to achieve for this week:
- We wanted to achieve were first deciding on a song.
-Also wanting to run through the song a few times to see how it was set out clearly.
-Establish new techniques/ability to okay new instruments or parts.
These were all complete this week. This was because the song was chosen as previously stated, we did run through a few things and understood the layout of the song itself. And also allowed for people to give time to learn a new part or instrument. For example Joe to learn the drum sections as they vary and also allow Tyler to have a go at learning the bass part that was needed.

The development
The development for the some choice came by as we decided some genres of bands people liked and then decided as George began playing all the small things that we all clicked to it. Some were unsure but were bought around to the idea of the song after hearing it liking the song itself. This was due to the variety of parts in it originally. We originally had the electric guitar and the acoustic with drums and vocals but we felt as though the bass were missing. As well as trying to keep it as close the original as possible we felt the bass would be a better option to the acoustic.

Working on
For next week a few people need to try work on some things like:
- Me working on learning the lyrics completely.
-Joe working to learn a small section of the drums but mostly has it.
- Tyler working to make sure the bass part is correct as there were two versions and sorting which is best for the song will be good.

Technique and skills
This week skill and technique wise we had use listening mainly to understand when to come in and what the pattern for instruments were. This meant that we all had to make sure the ability to hear the song parts were fair. The room we were had much to do with the acoustics. It is a loud song naturally, so we had to listen and make sure I was able to project my voice loudly but clearly at the same time.

I personally at home am working on timing and learning the lyrics to make sure I am improving.

Group and individual productivity
As a group this week I feel that we could have possibly performed better had we picked a song sooner but after we picked one we worked at 8/10 this is because of the fact we worked together to help each other when needed but performing as group wise we did not get too much done. I personally felt I performed 6/10 this is because as a vocalist my strong points are not with the drums or bass and I could not help as much as I wish to. This is something I’m hoping to change over the term but at this time I was also trying to learn lyric wise. This was the first week and I believe we will be better next week with more understanding of we now have to work.

This week we decided to scrap the original sing and chose to do Kings of leon- use somebody.

Targets
Targets we wanted to establish this week were
- being able to complete a song successfully
-learn our designated parts to put the song together
- get good timing and work together as one.

We however did achieve some of these as without vocals the song worked brilliantly. However as the vocalist I personally struggled for timing and feel as though I let that side down. Hence only certain targets were achieves as I had not fulfilled my part of the song.

The development
The development for the song was very quick. This was because the song was known by us all. The drums were a simple sort. The guitar took a tad longer to figure the chord sequence. however was quickly resolved. The bass was a new part which had to be learnt nonetheless it was. That was picked up quickly also. The only part the song really lacked was vocals due to the poor timing. This is being resolved.

Working on
This week the only person who really needs to improve is myself. As the vocalist I could not get my timing and this needs to be resolved over the forthcoming week.

Techniques skills
This week Tyler once again furthered experience playing bass. George took more of a solo section which allowed him to grow in putting himself forward to allow more confidence for solo performances perhaps.

Personally at home I am working once again work at the timing to make sure the song comes together an we can move on.

Group ans individual productivity
Overall as a group rating our efforts were very good. Much better than the week before. I feel this week rating our work would be a 9/10 this was because even though I was struggling the band came together and were giving advice and trying to help where possible. As a whole unit we worked well and the encouragement from the others made it easier to figure out certain places to come in and sort timing out.

Personally I feel i worked about an 8/10 and this is because I was trying hard to learn mine part however I was also getting frustrated feeling as though it was my fault.

First hour.
The first hour today consisted of myself, Jess H, Ben ,Gina and Louis.

Targets
This week we wanted to achieve somethings. These being:
-Being able to run through the song.
-Make sure that everyone knew parts and they were sorted,
-Put it all together.
These were all achieved and we worked well. From previous weeks we had some feedback from peers this was taken on board.

The development
The song moved forward this time as we had the people we needed. The feedback we had been given was to add a full drum kit and to add a bass. This week we had the opportunity to do so and that really added to the song. The sound now sounds more full and feels that it could soon be a finished piece now all the elements are there. We decided to go through the song again and put it back together. But this was also for Louis' benefit as it meant that he could listen and then brainstorm some ideas for the way the bassline could sound and fit the feel of the song. After finding one that he liked and we all agreed to the choice was made to keep going through until we were all confident in the parts we were playing.

Working on
The only real thing this piece now needs to have is practice. This is to make the piece really come together and take it from being the place is now to the place that allows it to be better.

Feedback(Loz)
Loz had come in and had a listen to the song and said that it was good but was not great and that it needed to be improved mainly on timing as there were points in which we were off. This was taken on board and the timing then became better after practice.

Techniques Skills
This week for skills the thing we mainly have to work towards is the idea of timing. Our components of the song are there but it is just the timing which is a skill to yet be mastered. This is a skill that brings the song completely together

Group and Individual Productivity.
This week I feel our productivity was very good as we made good use of all the time we had and everyone worked extremely well for the time we had. I personally feel I performed to the best I could at the point.

Second hour and Third hour.
These points in time I did not actually have work to be done so I was sat and decided to reflect on previous weeks making sure these were up to date and among other padlets.

This week was an eventful week. We managed to do some what type of work.

Targets
This week we wanted to achieve some more targets to do with actually performance.
-pick another song
-Support eachother
-Run through both songs.

All of there were achieved. We decided to do Foo Fighter Big Me. We also decided to do I love rock'n'roll as our final song.

Development

The development for this week I cannot say much on. However what I did witness was that at the start of the lesson we ran through both the songs. The development of the first song has become better than it was however my timing is still not completely brilliant. The second song was completely new to me and this made it all the better to learn. We ran through the song a couple of times when I had returned to the room after speaking to Mike. This then allowed us to understand the way the song worked and how the vocals would fit and be more able to put the song together.

Working on

This week there are only a couple of things we really need to work on:
-this would once again be my timing which is only my fault and I am working to improve.
-and also Tyler learning the bass part for Big Me.

Techniques and skills
The skills in these song choices are mainly timing and also in some cases being comfortable to be the main place for attention in the way the chosen instrument is to be performed taking a more upfront role and therefore confidence is a main element of these songs.

Group and Individual productivity.
This week the productivity from the group as being rated out of 10 is an 8. I say this because this week personally I found it very hard to keep timing. It generally got to me and even though I was letting it get to me and I had a bit of a hard time. However when I returned from this,
and before in fact, George and Joe were helping me along with the timing and reassuring that I could eventually get it. The lads also helped on the second song because it was a new song to me. The Improvement which could be altered was the way that certain people were performing in the group and be more supportive if possible.

Personally my work this week was probably a 7 out of 10. I think this because even though I did try to do my best I feel getting upset was not the best way to approach the situation. And I also think that because I wasn't in the room with the group try to correct where I had gone wrong, it did not get the resolution of getting it sorted only postponing the outcome that we finally had.

This week the sessions had finally been split up. This was sorted into groups again.

First hour.
This week I worked with Kyle George and Gina. We worked on a song that Kyle had chosen.

Targets
This week we wanted generally work out who was doing what and to try and learn as much of the parts as we possibly could.
This was achieved as we managed to sort that the drums were to be used and also a keyboard. The drum part from George as he thought it would be better sounding than rather using a guitar.

The development
This week as Loz had been talking a while and after we had set up we did not have much time. However the parts we did manage to do this week were, being able to listen to the song and distinguish parts, I was able to learn the piano part to the song. The good thing we mainly found was the instruments needed to make the song sound similar.

Working on.
We found that what we needed to work in general to mould the parts together to make the song hole and just learn parts really.

Technique and skills
This songs gives a few of us new techniques to work on. George in this song plays the drums which is not his first hand instrument. This means he has to make sure that he can perform using the correct skills. I personally also have to play a keyboard part and this is not a typical thing for me to play. We are here doing something different from usual.

I personally to improve this skill have worked at home to practice. This is because I find it hard to figure out the way the left hand and right hand do something completely different. But also the way the chords are played is something new to me which made the song more of a challenge.

Group and Individual Productivity
This week I feel as though we did not really get much done because of how much time we had. But overall with the time that we had I feel as though we made good use of the time that we had.

Second hour and third hour.
These two hours were with Gina and Jess H. We had a a session of just talking and trying out a few songs between the three of us.

General overlook.
These hours were because the rooms were free. The ideas were asking which songs we think would suit our voices, what we think could use to show off the skills for solo or also ideas for the ensemble pieces.

As ideas were being passed about we decided to put some ideas forward for Gina who in result ended up with her song. And then we began to practice the piece previously done with Ben and Louis to make sure that we could remember our parts together and make sure that lyrically it fitted and sorted out the lyrics in affect- as they did not fit completely
.

This week I managed to be occupied during all three hours managing to get something done each hour.

First hour.
The first hour I jumped into the room with Gina's group. This was because I had nothing to do and felt that I may as well join in and get something done. With these I only helped out with vocals they mainly had everything else sorted and simply were just cleaning up on what they had already done, which was very good.

For the second hour.
During the second hour I had a room to myself and decided I was going to experiment with a few songs and see how they suited my voice. I mainly wanted to figure out another song to perform.

Developing
I had already decided on three song but I wanted to experiment with a new song and also make sure that I knew timing and felt comfortable with the choices I had chosen.

Working on
The way that I wanted this hour to work was to be able to reassure myself that I knew timing and to make sure that I had the confidence to perform these songs with the best of my ability. This was what I wanted to be able to do. However I feel like the confidence part is the thing I need to work on more.

Technique and skills.
I feel the skills and technique I used voice control. And timing is a big one for me.

Productivity
For this hour I feel I made good use of the hour and I managed to achieve what I wanted to.

Third hour.
The third hour I was again put with the group from the first week sorted and finishing the song for Kyle.

Development
The development of this song has come a lot further than the first week. We were able to perform the song all the way through. It was not perfect however it was a far better standard then it had been.

Working on
For this song to be better we just need to clean up the drums a tad more and also to add to the correct chord progression to the piano as at times I went wrong and it did not fit with the way the sound should have sounded.

Technique and skills.
The way the song is formed it once again allows me and George to perform somewhat out of our regular comfort zone. The skill here is that it allows us to expand on our horizons and get used to playing more instruments and understanding different ways to play that specified instrument.

Productivity
Once again this hour I think that the hour was well spent as we managed to run through it a couple of times adding in the drums as of yet, the piano part and the vocals to finally make progress for a song that we have all had to learn apart from Kyle who has also helped and encouraged us all to do so.

Today we managed to get a few things done.

Targets

This week we were mainly sorting performance as a whole issue therefore our goals were to:

-perform all our songs at least once

-sort out timing out and decide whether certain songs would need to have vocals as I was struggling with them

-practice needed songs to get to a good standard of knowing what we wanted to do.

We managed to achieve all of which. We again did have some issue with timing but with the support of people in the group worked our way around it.

Development

For the development of ideas we decided to start with Kings of Leon as it is the one we struggle most with to sort out vocal timing. We did this and after some trying and a lot of encouragement from George and Joe making sure I carried on to practice and get as best as I could, we pretty much got there in the end. We then moved on to foo fighter Big Me which is coming along with the simple thing of just one little part we need to improve on to make it all work out. We then had a quick go at I love rock n roll as our final song choice. This was only quick and I would say needs some more work putting towards it but is one of the better songs.

Technique and skills

This week we had to again use the skill of keeping in time with each other and figuring out parts of timing mainly for myself. The guitar and bass both did some stuff which was new to them ie in I Love Rock n Roll the bass plays different notes that were establish and then also the guitar having to play a part which he was unfamiliar with but push forward to be able to still have a go until fully learnt.

I at home am still working to sort my timing and it is now finally showing through giving the song a more whole feel.

Working on

This week we all really could do with learning the foo fighters song better than we currently know it. But as well as this

-Julia just a bit more practice on when to join in with vocals.

-George to learn the start of I love rock n roll.

Group and individual productivity

As a group out 10 I would rate our efforts a 9/10. This is because we used time wisely and in result for a lot done. The reason I also believe it is 9 is because of encouragement and sticking together as a group. Certain people were helpful when timing was not brill. They sang along with me and indicated to start and helped me out quite a bit. Others tried to help but when asked to take more of a helping hand felt uncomfortable to do so but this was respected but their help was still appreciated. This is why only a 9 as there is still space to be better than we are currently.

As an individual I believe my work today was also a 9. This is because I did my best and tried to work hard on timing. This is showing to pay off. I think to make this better I could learn to not be so hard on myself and stopped being as stubborn when I am unable to get something and instead of angry be more determined to make it right and try harder to make sure I get it as good as I possibly can.

Today we managed to get a few things done, in spite of what we faced.

Targets

This week we had a change of plan as of last minute as people did not turn up so we had to change plan.

-pick some songs

-perform the songs

-work together to decide in the way we would perform as a group.
We managed to do all of these which was a big achievement.

Development

During early stages of the day out of a band of 4 only 2 were at college. Originally the idea was to join a different band and help with them however Tyler later turned up resulting in herself, myself and Joe working on some songs ourselves. We picked at songs which we could all do and know and work together to perform it. We decided to choose wonderwall by Oasis. I played guitar with Joe on drums and Tyler with vocals.

Technique and skills

We decided skill wise this was a song choice that would challenge Tyler as it is a song that she was unfamiliar with and this meant we were able to help her with listening to the way it was played to show she could listen to us all when working together. It was also testing myself and Joe as there are parts with just guitar and then drums joining in and that meant that Joe had to listen closely. There is also a part in which we both drop out and then come back in. This is also testing that we can listen to the others in the group working well as an ensemble. This showed good communication.

Working on

-Tyler work on timing for lyrical phrasing.

Feedback
The feedback this week was quite positive as it was a popular song the natural vibe was bouncy and occasionally people joining in. There were aso comments made on the nice fills that Joe had added as well as, it being a good song and due to it being a last minute sing it was pulled together well. However we could have sorted levels as vocals were quite low over drums and guitar.

Group and individual productivity

As a group the effort considering we had less time then others, was brilliant to start with, the progress in which me managed ti run through multiple songs and get one ready enough for performing I feel we worked to 10/10.

As an individual I believe that I have performed to a good standard and that lead to being able to get the guitar part to a good standard for me. I think I also had done well to make sure we worked as a band. Being able to work well with both Tyler and Joe well.

At the end of this session I also decided to perform one of my solo performances as I had been practicing for Loz’s lesson and I believe it was a good choice. Feedback from both Mike and Loz was very similar.

This week was a bit of a switch around for me . Instead of working with my actual group I had helped another group.

Targets
For me, this week my targets
- were to have the right part for me learnt as it was not my preferred instrument.
-try and work with both groups to have what I needed sorted.
Both of these were achieved. I believe I did the best that I could to make sure I was incorporated into both of the bands.

Development
The development of the way this week progressed included a bit of planning during the week. With the band I do not normally help with I had been asked to play the bass as it was harder for the vocalist (Gina) struggled to play the bass and also sing in time. I decided on helping because it was also an opportunity for experience on the bass.

With my normal band: we had the discussion of what we wanted to do as three of us had already done a song compared to George who had been ill. We decided to do Radioactive and a song of their creating ie, George and Joe. This is the harder part as it is an original I have to learn the lyrics to their song with Tyler also learning the bass and getting that sorted. This one is still a work in progress.

Working on
The only ones work is really needed for is the song with George, Joe and Tyler.
-Julia vocals and learning melody and words themself.
-Tyler learning the bass part completely.

Feedback
This week as only one song was recorded we only had that feedback. This was for the song I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry. The feedback was that the vocals were very clear to hear and that everyone was very into the song with high performance, the individual parts held down their particular sections. There was also that the everybody was part of it and enjoyed themselves.

Individual and group(s) productivity,
This week both groups worked I would say a 10/10 for effort, I did spend more time with the other group compared to that of my normal but that was due to actually having the performance recorded. But when I was with my normal group they worked hard to make sure the ideas were flowing and that the parts were being learnt. They worked well in supporting each in learning the parts as well.

As an individual I would like to say that I worked well to split my time however I am aware I could have spent more time with my band had we been in on time and I wish I could have. The way I think I was still involved with both groups was still good being able to help both mine and another group. I would say I was about 7/10

Targets
This week I just wanted to be able to get at least one solo done and anything else was really a bonus.

Development
The way this worked was I had chosen between two songs to try and the first was not the time to sing as I needed some more practice. The second was better than the other and therefore decided to be the better option of the two. I had chose to sing Send My Love by Adele. I had chosen this song and practiced it as much as possible. However along with this, I also helped to do guitar with Jess H to help with her solo. This was Stand By Me by Ben E King. In both the solo and the ensemble I believe I could have done a lot better. For my solo I had a bad throat still and this affected my voice slightly and I think if I had been better the performance hopefully would have sounded better. For the ensemble I messed up with the guitar which it was obvious and did not sound too good. I feel it would be better if we redid it because I believe we could actually make it better for us.

Working on.
For working on the songs together for my solo, I have been practicing on reaching the correct notes now that my voice is better and so is my hearing. And this makes it easier to hear the track. For the ensemble I have been practicing the chord sequence so that I have it my head to hopefully make a better and improve the performance.

Technique and skill.
For technique and skill during the solo I need to be able to have the skill of listening which in this song I struggled with, in turn affecting pitch. This can be resolved by now having my hearing back and trying harder. In the ensemble I used the skill of partly/fully muting the guitar which is not something I do too often and is still odd to me to do. But it adds a nice texture and differentiation to the song itself.

Group and Individual Productivity
This week as a group when on our own we all participated in giving feedback and advice and pushing each other on. By this I mean that for example when Jess was practing her song originally she was unable to do it to the level she wanted to achieve. With advice and a few technical improvements this was overcome. The same with Georgina and the way we pushed her to feel more comfortable with the way she carried her voice and finally me giving advice on which song I had a better chance on performing to the best ability that week. Overall I would say as a personal effort it was about a 7/10 for not doing so much that I think i could have done more. This was due to me trying to help my voice but looking back more could have been done. But as a group the three of us worked well together at about a 9/10.

Targets
This week my targets were to get most of my recorded work done. I wanted to improve the song i had previously done which was Send My Love by Adele. I did this but still only just better. But still struggled with timing by half a beat maybe a quarter beat coming in too late as stated by Loz.

I managed to achieve this. By having all solo performances bar one sorted. This because that is an ensemble performance others and we all need to be free.

Development
The development of the songs I had done was to start by practicing what I could, which at the time was Send My Love and I Know Where I’ve Been. The ideas came because I tend to have a better sound when it comes to lower range vocals. This is what these two songs mainly are with higher range also included and I thought this was a good way to show what I was cable of doing. When practicing each time I focus on a certain part and then progress from there.

Working on
For some songs the thing I struggle with is timing. I need to try and sort timing with the second track. This track was not the best to use however due to having a section slightly off beat however this my fault for using this track. But because of having to sound like the original, this one the only I could actually work for this criteria.

For i know where I've been I think i did well in it however, there is one note during the chorus I think could have been hit better than it was during the actual performance.

Technique and skill

For these two songs a key is listening to the timing again because it is the important to join in at points to make sure that the songs flows. Especially with I know Where I've been because as the choir joins in the timing for the soloist to join in is different. But also breathing very important in both these songs. This is because both songs have either quickly flowing lines or long lasting notes require breathing control to pace yourself to reach it all correctly. I think in this sense I was quite successful.

Productivity
This Lesson I believe I worked well and used my time efficiently. And got what I needed to do done. I believe that I worked at a 9/10.

Targets
This week I wanted to make sure that I had at least one more song recorded leaving the rest of our time here to sort the ones that I believe need improvement. This was all achieved and I am happy with the result.

Development
The lesson started with making sure that the we could all first of all remember the way the song went. This meant we spent a while and a few attempts to get it up to scratch and especially since we have only recently added a bass and it makes the sound much more full and better than without. After practicing we had it recorded and we performed well.

Technique and skill
For me the skill in this song was picking and singing as it sometimes is harder for me and is not something I do very often. In this I managed to pull it off due to practicing at home and working to improve the way it works with vocals. The overall skill for everyone was also involving listening as usual but because this song has a build up and then drop out, it requires everyone to be on the ball and know when to join in and drop out again.

Working on
With this song I plan to work on building the song and making it better. By this I would like to perhaps make it longer and try to expand on the picking and see how it sounds. Also maybe adding more chord variation.

Productivity
For this, as a group we worked well.We tried hard to work with the timing we had.We managed to work for the full time. Considering that we had not done it in a whole everyone was focused and decided to keep at the pace of working hard. The way everyone worked together, it meant that the we got the job done and we had a productivity about 9/10.

This was mainly resolved as the only thing left to do was sort the solo pieces for the boys.

Development
The way we sorted it, was that vocalist has changed to give the group a better chance.

However one solo was also performed by myself and Joe. It was a song that we were both familiar with. The song was Charmaine by Plan B. We started off by making sure that we could remember that all the words and tried to find a backing track. As it was Joe's solo I sang the hook and accompanied him.

Working on
If this was to be redone we would need to sort a couple of things.
We did struggle to actually find an actual backing track for the song, in addition to this though we were able to use a vocal canceler on the PA.

The Video for this piece was done another week. This however was a good piece, and has some other features such as dancing and a presence of people being confident on the way they were performing.

Targets
The targets this day were basically to actually have a performance done and make sure we were all confident for it.

The Development
The idea for the song came about when we were throwing around songs that had an upbeat vibe to it. The song I love rock n roll came up and everyone decided this was a good song to choice because it was very dance like and the vibe we wanted. During this we decided the parts as we had the right amount of guitars to use and also multiple vocalist and a drummer. We also had the help from Kyle to make the atmosphere here work well with the song itself. The parts were assigned and we immediately started practicing and decided what we wanted to do with the structure and the way it sounded. The way this worked was mainly how many time chorus' would be played and the way we ended and if people were comfortable to perform as they did.

Working on
If this song were to be re-done then I would like to think that we could make it better with better sound. By this I mean the levels being better sorted.

Productivity Group and Individual
This particular week I think we worked well and showed a good use of time. The way we worked together as a group gave a good performance that people enjoyed and I therefore believe that as a group we had good stage presence and performed a 10/10. And for myself I believe that I also did well in the way I gave my vocals because it was a song in which I felt confident and I feel that that showed. This being a 9/10. However for myself if it was possible again I think that the better thing would have been if the vocals were higher volume wise as they at times seemed lost with the guitars. But overall we worked well, had good presence and gave a good performance.

This week we worked to help George with some extra ensemble pieces.

Targets
The targets were mainly to get the song performed and sorted.

Development
The idea came when we were talking about the songs we liked. Even though the people in this group ie- Ben and Gina had already done this sing, we re did it also adding in the vocals of myself and also the drums by Joe. And finy allowing George to do the guitar in the finishing of the group. These pieces bought the song together well. We ran through the song a few times to make sure we were doing the best we could. This was the where we decided this was the song that would be a good choice.

Working on
If this song was to be redone it would need to be sorted in the sense that I think the levels were off and could have been better.

Technique and Skill
The song here allows cases of learning new skills. This being that this is not a song that I would normally song so the pitching for the song was something I had to sort out. Gina does not primarily play the bass so for her to play bass it gives her more experience using more instruments. This was not a song that Joe had done before either so he had listened to the song and picked up the drum beat quickly. Listening was the skill Joe here. Ben and George had an idea of the song anyway and were able to put their parts forward and did it well.

Group and Individual Productivity
I think that as a group we were worked well to produce the song that we did. We all worked together to help one another in the time that we could. We tried hard to make sure that we performed our parts well. This is the reason I believe we worked well at 9/10. I think i worked at about an 8/10.

Targets
This week was a week where we were given freedom to do what we would have liked. However the group I was with decided to actually get something done in the process.

Groups
Me , Gina, Ben, Jess H, Louis and Ryder decided on working on the song Johnny B Goode by Chuck Berry. We thought it was a nice 50's song and it was easier to be able to mould it to the people we had playing the instruments as everybody liked the song, so that meant that we could all put full effort into something that we loved to give it an extra energy.

Developments
The development of the song, simply started from listening to some sings from the 50' era. We originally were not planning on this song, however when put on everybody felt like smiling and dancing which is always good. This song was the one we chose and the way we decided was to have lead guitar being Ben, Ryder bass and Jess on drums. Me and Gina said we would both have a go at the accompany guitar as it was something we were both interested in. We did but both found it hard. Luckily this is when Louis came in. Louis has a real liking to this song so we though it be better to ask him. He willingly agreed and the song began ti take shape. We decided to drop the key to A from A#. Me and Gina then decided to half the verses and sing the chorus' together.

Working on
For next week we need to work on:
-Jess, drums just bit of timing and tidying up.
-Julia & Gina, Lyrics and making sure that we can get the timing spot on.

Individual and Group Productivity.
As a group I think we worked well with our time. I say this because we did not have to actual out a song together this week, yet we chose to. We also nearly have this song done. We tried our best to get the most from our lesson even when we faced struggles. I would say we worked 9/10.

Me myself, I would say that I worked well. I was trying to sort the guitar part out but was not the best from the job , but I still tried. Then for the most part I was learning the lyrics and sorting timing with the group. I would say that I worked an 8/10.

This term we have set groups once again and this term I am with : Carl, Gina, Jess H and myself.

Targets
This week the targets were to focus on :
-Decide on an era
-Chords to parts
-Build up some lyrics
-Work on structure
We were able to do all of these as we ended up with pretty much a full song.

Developments
The development of the song started with the decision of the era. We decided that if we used 1950-1960's it would be a good choice as we would have an influence from yesterday. The way we thought about it was being able to do a Rock'N'Roll song. So this was upbeat and having a dance vibe but also keeping it the same as the era itself. We started messing with some chord progressions and these sounded quite nice. Then to follow these we were looking at a way to having another guitar harmonising. We managed to both. The next idea was to sort out another chord progression for the chorus. on the chorus there is a slight change of chords. After establishing the chords the structure was the next part to worry on. Meanwhile some of us were working on the lyrics. We all came together and decided that the lyrics did fit and that the structure was going to be:
Verse, Build up, Chorus,Verse, Build up, Chorus, Solo, Build up Chorus x2.

Working on
For next week the only real things we need to focus on is:
-Jess/Drums
-Ben/ write a solo part.

Lyrics/Chords
Rocking up and down to the moving beat

Twisting and jiving every day if the week

Grab somebody's hand go and take the floor

Come on everybody go dance some more

Dance some morex3

On the weekend is when we really show

We can groove it and a grind it and drop it down low

It's Saturday night and it's our time

To make you come alive

Feel the rhythm flowing beating through

The floor

Intoxicating liberating move some more

Hear the heel clicking knocking down the door

Show somebody else what your good for.

D c g verse

E c g d Chorus

Feedback
We showed the performance to Mike and he was happy with out efforts. He was nodding his head a lot so I would take that as it fitted well to the genre that we wanted. He gave the advice to sort out a solid drum pattern for next week and this is being taken on board.

Individual and Group Productivity.
This week we worked for the full amount of time. We listened well to each other and the it showed as we managed to get pretty much the whole song sorted. I would say that we worked a 10/10.

I personally think that I worked quite well. I was always busy as did the others. I played my part fairly and also contributed to others as well, for that I think I worked at a 9/10.

Targets
This week the targets were simple.
-get previous song sorted
-potentially look at new song

Development
During this lesson we started with remembering what is was that we had done. We ran through the song and familiarized ourselves with it. In this time we also managed to get the solo and drums from last week sorted out.

Feedback
The feedback stated was the style was good and stylistically correct and that all the guitars work well together. However it was suggested that maybe for this era there was too much distortion. It was also stated that the levels were not very good. We tried to change this however could not because we were not being listened to. The coordination was also stated to be good.

Group and Individual Productivity
This week the way it worked ws not brilliant. I will state that the work we had performed was not the way that certain members of the group had wished it to be done. During the session we worked well together to practice. The performance itself was not as planned as things were changed last minute. I believe this week we only worked at a 6/10. This is due to the fact that last minute things were changed and performed differently thus resulting in the performance not being as good as we would have hoped it to be.

I personally feel as though this week I worked quite well. I did my part as I should have and performed to the best of my ability I did however mess up and I am aware of that but this was a group thing as majority of us were confused with what was happening. So I would say that my effort was 8/10.

Targets
This week was to just start on the new genre and get something done with ideas and work wise.

Development
The way we came up with the idea of this song was that we wanted to do a genre that people would not expect us to do. This was Disco. We felt for the collective of people within the group, disco seemed like a little bit of an odd genre for us. This is why we decided that we would do it. We started messing around with rejigging the group. The lads stayed on their guitars and us girls decided we wanted to broaden our horizons. I went on bass, Jess vocals and Gina drums. The chords were pretty simplistic at the start for the Intro and the verse. That was pretty much all we got done structure wise as well as a chorus and a transition. Apart from this, we did not do much because people wanted to not listen and do other things. We spent most of the lesson sorting out the actual guitars and drums to match the synth that we had tried to add. However this was not that good and was out if time and did not fit so for now we have disbanded the idea of using it until the song is at a stage of better sounding.

Working on
The main thing to work on :
- Carl and Ben listening to other people in the group.
-People being more motivated with the session
-Jess vocals, writing the lyrics
-Putting it all together

Group and Individual Productivity
This week the group was not that productive and we hardly got anything done. The lads have their parts but myself, Gina and Jess are still struggling. This week I think we worked at around a 6.

Personally I think I worked about an 8/10. I think that because I was helping the girls with their parts and we were all trying to cooperate with the lads however something about this week just was not the case in letting that happen.

Targets
-to perform the full song

We achieved this target as we performed all of the song to some degree

Development
During the practice we developed the song by choosing our parts firstly. We did this by listening to the song and picking parts. I did not know the song but was suggested to instead play drums rather than the vocals. This I had no problem with and agreed. We went through the song and learnt the different sections and put the whole thing together. It wasn’t perfect but we did our best in the time we had. During the performance it did not go as well as some of us had hoped. In the fact being that I for one, dropped a drumstick. This made me a bit unsure of where we were however I pulled it back. As well as this we also had the trouble of Carl's guitar being out of tune.

Working on
The only real thing to work on is using a tuner for Carl and personally I need to work on the drums as they were not great and I know that.

This for me- playing drums- is newish as they aren't my prime instrument but the challenge is always fun.

Feedback
We were told that the performance iteself was actually pretty good. Loz said that it reminded him of the era of the 90’s in the way we performed it. Feedback also said that despite dropping the drumstick, I still did quite well. Overall people thought that we really only really needed to work on using a metronome and making sure we are all tuned correctly.

Group and Individual Productivity
This week we worked in the group as best as we could. Certain members worked well and supported each other. The way we all asked for which part we would have liked to play, we also tried to include everyone the best we could. Overall I believe majority of the group worked at a 9/10.

Personally I feel as though I worked at a 7 because I did not do the best I think I could have done and let the group down a little. As drums are not my main instrument this was a a bit out of my comfort zone but something I really plan to be better at and feel with more practice I could be better at it.

Targets

This the initial targets were to actually get the disco song finished.

However due to a member not being here that plan was not really manageable because he was the lead guitarist. So instead

-pick parts

-sort out structure

-sort vocals

We achieved these by creating a new song fitting the more modern 01-present day genre. It has an Indie feel to it.

Development

The performance originally consisted of three of us until Carl showed up. When he did arrive we tried to incorporate him but he was not playing to the right genre and he ended up walking out because it was not to his taste. In the end it ended up being myself Jess and Gina. We decided to have a mess around originally and I came up with a simple but effective chord progression. From there we messed around with some vocals and also some drum patterns. With the vocals we decided to have the vocals as a more morbid kind of feel. The topics we based them on was depression how it can always be there and you never know how you are going to feel okay. To match this there are minor chords in the progressions to represent the way feel of the song is.

Feedback

We were told that the song was good and that the structure was also good but the timing needed a little sorting which we understood completely as a new song.

Targets
-Get into the new groups
-Assign parts
-Pick a song.
We achieved this and cracked on with the song when we could.

Development
With the song we originally practiced a few times through to get the idea. However with things that had happened in other groups, we had an extra person to the group for this one lesson. In that sense, most of the groups stayed and had a play around with some other songs. They had their time to practice so that our extra person so that everyone could have a chance to do some type of music and have a few ideas. However when we were practicing, we managed to practice with and without the vocals. Ryder managed to figure out the synth part and we also put that in their because, we felt without it the song did not have the same feel. When adding it , the song sounded much more full and had the vibe that we wanted it to have originally. After a few practices we actually managed to get most of the song sorted.

Working on
-Finesses the song with vocals
-Learn the structure
-Get a proper recording

Group and Individual Productivity
As a group we performed well together. We managed to all agree on a song rather quickly and everyone was more than happy to do the song at hand. The time that we had we used well and gave a chance for everyone to get to know their parts section by section. Overall as a group I think we worked 8/10. This is becuase as previously stated, we did not perform full as a group for the whole time, but all of our time was used well in the respect of helping other out as well.

Personally I think that I worked at about the same as the group. I worked with the time that I had, I understood the song and did my best to do what I thought was the best way. I also performed the best that I could have and I just think that if there had not been the issues in other rooms, I believe we could have been even better.

But it was not as good as it could have been. The remaining time was well used and we worked until the end to give the lads a fair chance of being on the same level as us girls for the understanding of the song. The main idea of the song was sorted and that meant we achieved what we wanted to get done mostly. The group worked at a 8/10 with the exception of some people.

Personally I feel I worked the same as the group.

Targets
This week we just wanted to be able to achieve a song that represented the decade we were looking at. This was achieved.

Development
During the performance development there was some people who needed to learn the song, whether that being some lyrics or a guitar part/bass part. Mostly though we were learning the structure. Once the parts had been learnt it was time to put it all together and sort out the structure itself. When doing so there was the bridge section and chorus build up to sort mainly with Joe and George. This was because during the bridge there is a drop out section. This was trying to figure out who was still playing and who was not. We also originally had the idea to have me and Jess singing however instead she decided to do the backing vocals which sounded so nice with the way our voices harmonised. I then asked Jess if she would like to sing part of the bridge as I thought her voice should be heard more. Jess did this and I think it sounded really nice and added a nice contrast to the pitch of my voice.

Feedback.
The way the song was performed was good and it was said that it sounded really close to the original. People enjoyed the song and said it was a nice throwback. The only thing was that the thing we could improve was, there was one note on the bass which was incorrect and we can sort this easily.

Working on
-Gina one note on the bass

Group and Individual Productivity
This week I think as a group we all worked well and managed to achieve all the targets we wanted to. The song came out well and we all did our best. I think as a whole we worked at a 9/10.

Personally I feel I worked the same as the group because I helped with others parts as well as my own. I already knew my part which made it easier for me as I was a big fan of this song a while back. This week I think my effort was also a 9/10.

Targets
-decide new genre
-decide parts
-make a start on said genre

We did all of these successfully.

Development
During this week we decided that we wanted to start our new song because we have lost one member of the group and also the fact we could not do the other song because our other guitarist was not able to play the song. our last decade was 90's. So we decided britpop would be a good choice. We did this by firstly coming up with the chord sequence and then simple drums for now and furthermore adding some lyrics.

The song we have was inspired by the likes of Nirvana and also has a touch of Rolling Stones vibe. The song talks about fighting for what you think is right and standing out mainly.

Working on
-Julia finishing lyrics
-Gina drums
-Jess guitar
-Ben actually joining in

Group and Individual Productivity
This week when working together we managed to get half a song done. We have our structure and the basic outline for the song. I feel as though we worked quite well to be fair. We all had input to help one another and tried to do our best while still being a man down. The effort that everyone has put in is paying off as it now means that we do not have that much to do it is mainly just finessing songs and finishing this particular one and the disco song. For the majority of what we have done, we are doing well.I would say that this week we worked at a very good 9/10.

Personally I feel as though I have worked quite well. I have helped others as they have helped me. I id my best and managed to get a verse and chorus for the song done. This is not my typical genre so it was fun for me to do these lyrics. I believe that I have worked an 8/10.

Targets
This week the targets were mainly to actually pick a song and get it recorded.

Development
This week was difficult trying to fit a song that we all liked and wanted to perform. In the end we decided on learn to fly by Foo Fighters. WIth this song, the lads knew the song but myself, Jess and Gina did not. We managed to pick it up as the lesson progressed. We first tried to get the instrumentation down and then followed by the lyrics. Mainly the way it came together was having George having his part down, Joe being aware of what he was doing and Jess got the jist of what she was doing quite quickly. However the bass a bit longer because the way Gina was actually trying to learn from, was wrong so it was mainly by ear. She did her best with what she could do. Then once she had done that , vocals were added. I tried with this to do my best but I found it hard. This was because the way it is sang, is not the way that I would sing, so this made it more challenging for me. After adding lyrics the main part that we had to practice and sort out was the bridge because it changed and confused people a little, but this this was soon resolved and the siong came together really well I think.

Working on
For this the work on would be
-Gina bass
- All could be a little bit tidier.

This week I think that as a group we worked well and managed to get a difficult song done and recorded. This meant that we had achieved our goals. The lads were able to help me and Gina where we needed it and it helped pull the song together more and quicker than without their help. Overall I think we worked at about a 7/10.

Personally I feel I quite struggled with this song and I think that I maybe could have done better. But I pulled my weight where possible and tries the best that I could have and feel that I worked at a 7/10 also.

targets
This week we had to the two extra song that we had made this week, because there was still a member missing. This meant we had to redo two sings instead of just one.

We managed to do two sings, however they were not great.

Develpoment
The developments of these songs came about because we already had a chord progression. We used this , added some lyrics for Jess. This was her tome to sing as both myself and Gina have already sang and vocals are our strong points. The song then had a bass added to it by Gina and after we had figured out the notes we then put the song together. When practicing we then had Joe come in and asked if he could play the drums for us. By doing this he added to the song a lot. During rehearsal, the performance as a whole it sounded really good and it came together well. However for the recording something was off and the sound was not as it had previously been, putting us down massively.

For the second song, we wanted to have a disco song but that went down the drain when we accidently made a more mashup type of song. The original drum beat had a disco feel to the song but when mixed with he bass and the guitar we just decided they sounded more of a soft rock ( Queen type of rock ). So in the end it was a mix of both of those genres. The lyrics were thrown together and we know that. But we did try. The song when recorded did not sound that great because when I sang my voice went and I had really, really badly miss pitched it, I am aware of this. There were a few errors here and there.

Working on
-My vocals and pitching
-Joe timing a little one one song
-More time to practice.

Group and Individual Productivity.
Both myself and the group worked hard to get two songs sorted for this week. We manged to achieve our goals. The thing is in practice we did really well, I think, but during
the recordings we panicked and were not as good as we wished we could have been. I think we used our time well. We tried the best we could with the time we had and still managed to come up with two sing ideas and put something to them. I think we worked 8/10.

For this, I do not have videos, as I was sent links or anyway to add them. Apologies.

This week the targets were to get some songs that we already had done for Mike sorted so that we could work on something new for tomorrow. We managed to go through the songs and sort timing and also figured out to have the sound a lot better than it had been last week. Last week we had to mainly rush and try to have them both just recorded, but this week meant that we had more time and we could finesse them more than they had been. The outcome this week is a lot better than it would have been, had we left it the way it was.

This week targets were to get another song recorded for the helping hand for Joe.
We achieved this and got the full song done.

Development
For the development it started with the idea of a genre which was the 70's punk. The guitar was started with playing around with some chords, these were then put into a pattern. The bass was the next to be sorted it was simple once we had the guitar part down. With this, the lyrics and drums were added at the same time. This was because it meant that with the melody with the song, lyrics could flow easily and the drums created the back ground sound that added to the whole song and held it together.

Group and Individual Productivity.
This week as a group we worked well and we managed to get a song out. This was one of the better songs I think. It came together well. I think we worked at a 9/10 using all of the time that we could.

I personally feel as though I had done very well. I did my best managed to hold down the bass part and then also as a none bass player figured it all out pretty well. I think I also worked at a 9/10.
