An example of metaphorical language in the song Calypso is the lines, "I will stand upon the shore with a clean heart." (Vega 36-37) This describes how Calypso feels as though she will no longer have to live with a guilty conscience and her heart will feel "clean" once she lets Odysseus go.

The song "Calypso" describes Calypso as willingly letting Odysseus go because she believes in her heart that it is the right thing to do. "The Odyssey", however, portrays Calypso as reluctant and unwillingly to let Odysseus leave her island because she selfishly wants him to stay with her forever.
