Social Media: Are We Influenced? by Kayla Skyles

Does social media actually influence society today? Most teenagers do not feel influenced, but parents have a different view. Is the influence good or bad? Could it be both?

Who: Society as a whole

What: Social media allows society to communicate without ever being face to face. It also allows many forms of news and information to circulate at the click of a button.

When/Where: Anytime and anywhere. You can access the newest information anytime, with the help of a smart phone.

Why: Are we influenced by what we see in social media. Are parents paranoid for no reason, or is our generation not as invincible as we think we are.

This CNN article has limited bias. The reporter interviewed another mother who actually thinks that social media positively influences their child. Who wouldn't want to hear other people telling their child that they are beautiful? It boosts self-confidence, and come on it feels great to have someone else affirm what you already know to be true. Maybe this mother is onto something.

I believe that social media is good for kids and how it'll help them learn through technology or by finding out info through the web or asking people online. I also think it's great that some parents believe this as well

Just like in your Positive 1 article, once I hear social media, I think of all the negatives. Reading the article you chose made me realize it's actually right because I'm the kind of person who would comment positive stuff one someones post or picture. It has also made me realize that when I'm feeling down someone would care to ask me why, and often in school all everybody talks about is stuff that goes on in the internet or on television.

Growing up you're always under a parent so you agree with what they agree with, but now we have social media and we can make up our on minds. I think social is good in a way for kids because they learn about technology, which is a huge skill for the future. shocking you found such a positive article about social media.

do you like social media?
