Creativity is essential in the work force because it allows innovation and inventions to occur. Consequently, it begins in the educational learning environment and teaching students how to "think outside of the box." It is critical for American students to be able to problem-solve and implement critical thinking through the creative process.

Creativity is important in the classroom because it motivates kids to learn. They are more absorbed in their learning and more driven to accomplish their goal. Creativity also ties learning to their personal interests, helps students have control over their tasks and be competent in their work.

The most profound point that the article presented I believe was "Creativity spurs emotional development." So often we find ourselves with students who do not know how to navigate through the challenges that we place in front of them and they become frustrated. Terral says, "Allowing students to experience the journey, regardless of the end result, is important." I completely agree because life is a journey where they will not achieve everything in front of them. We as teachers must be guides to help navigate them through their struggles and not alleviate them. Work is tough... so is life. If we aren't preparing them for the world, what are we preparing them for?

It seems that emphasising creativity could be a great strategy for us push our students towards that maturity.

When I stumble onto creative activities that students find interesting, it motivates them to try harder and work more.
