This makes it problematic for the students to choose and for the advisor to have their students with them when they're needed. I'm not totally sure how to fix this problem, but it's definitely a problem. While I would love for the activity period to be predictable every month, and only once a month, I don't know if that's possible. Could we have a once-a-month FULL period meeting? Then kids could have certain time with certain clubs and see all of them in the allotted time? While I realize there are times it's vital at that moment, most times it is not (e.g. called out during a test to give flowers, etc.). There are so many awesome things we learn but don't have time to put it in practice. And, time spent giving grades to students is never poor time spent. I have been fortunate to meet with the students assigned to me. Although I have an AP class, I missed just one career portfolio meeting. Since students are using the career portfolio site with other teachers, they seem to know more about navigating the site and often help each other with the site.
