My dad read Harry Potter to me each night before I fell asleep. Sharing the love and interest we both had for the characters, storyline and fantasy, led us to fighting to be "who's the biggest fan". Looking back on these memories, I have realized that Harry Potter has contributed to my personality and interests still today. People call me weird that I still like cartoons and things like Harry Potter, but in the end I know I can always share my weirdness with my dad.

My private school I attended for K-8 was very strict and selected few children. When I start to think of it, I notice that I went through college admissions twice, but the first time was kindergarten level. I had been conditioned at a special Pre-Kindergarten, that was suggested for a better chance of acceptance to my private school. I still remember today, being quizzed and tested on my reading and writing skills at the age of 5. Luckily enough, I knew how to write my name, while managing not to flip any of the letters backward, and even could read Dick and Jane.

Wilbur Made Me Vegetarian

One of my first real books I ever read was Charlotte's Web. I thought I was so smart and cherished the book even more, knowing I was truly capable of reading and understanding it. I grew a connection to all the characters, and my view on animal cruelty stemmed from the storyline of Wilbur's life. As a second grader, I made the bold statement of going vegetarian. I told my parent's that I didn't want meat, because Wilbur wouldn't be happy about it. After a full strong year, I finally slipped up on being a vegetarian. Today, being a vegetarian for that long as a 7 year old, is an accomplishment I couldn't manage today.

The Ugly of Social Media

I grew up in a Democratic family and was taught to believe the same as everyone else. I didn't really understand politics till I got older, in school and from the news. Once I had developed my own opinion and what I believed, it was my parent's views and maybe even more passionate than them. Social Media and the news opened my eyes as to what is really going on in the world of politics. The power of a "tweet" is being abused and used for nothing but negativity. There have been videos, and photos of women and men in marches against the Trump administration, and what it stands for. I have been fueled to care and worry about the community and world around us, especially because of social media.

The Horrors of Public Speaking

My senior year of high school required a senior speech, that we would write and present to our class. My struggles with writing this speech were beyond anything I imagined, but with pain came great quality. My speech moved my class in ways I didn't know possible. People saw me in a different light, and knew my story and what I have overcome and the product of my hard times. When presenting, I wasn't focused on my writing but on the public speaking part of it. My biggest fear was accompanied with my story, that I had longed to expose to my friends. This writing experience was one of my accomplishments I was waiting to achieve for a long time. Although it was hard, it was good to speak out in my own voice and share a story people needed to know.
