In other words, if object A exerts a force on object B, then object B also exerts an equal and opposite force on object A. Notice that the forces are exerted on different objects.<br><br><strong>Newton's third law</strong> states that when two bodies interact, they apply forces to one another that are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. The <strong>third law</strong> is <strong>also known as</strong> the <strong>law</strong> of action and reaction.<br><br>when you jump, your legs apply a force to the ground, and the ground applies and equal and opposite reaction force that propels you into the air. Engineers apply <strong>Newton's third law</strong> when designing rockets and other projectile devices.</div>]]></description>
