3.From the point of view of a peasant, they were given larger taxes and hard working conditions. The people who worked in the rubber plantations in Vietnam often had malaria, dysentery, and malnutrition. While from a French official's point of view they thought of Vietnam as a way for cheap labor. They also spread their religion, language, and history so they thought that they were actually helping the Vietnamese people. As an outside observer the imperialization of Vietnam only hurt its economy and culture. They hurt its economy by exporting most of its natural resources for France's benefit, in which they got most of the profits. And France tried to replace their culture since they thought that theirs were superior and more humane instead of trying to understand their different beliefs.
