In UK, because of the large disparities within countries, between states and between school districts. So there has a social inequality. The unjust and discriminatory social structures that create social inequalities. It biased in the favour of those already with power.
1. The poor region can not attract good teachers to teach them, but the rich area can receive better education. Poverty makes it harder to access resources in UK. However, there also has availability of school choice between different types of schools. So the rich people can pay fees to get better eductaion.
2. elitist private sector- The meritocracy rewards individual abilities and is competitive. It motivates people with better abilities and qualifications.

Stratification: they receive different education according to their background
1. early selection: they need to choose their career in a very young age, they don't know what they want to be in the future. Therefore, they might follow what their parents' doing, depends on their parents' background and the lower part will remains in the lower part of the society. Also, they will have lower level of education in the early age and therefore with early selection, they will be forced to choose lower level job.
2. Cannot change the system due to politics and therefore the problem mention in 1. cannot be eased and continue the trend
3.+4. they need to fill int he labour market so some people will be distribute to lower level job in order to fill the labour force, teenagers who are trained since 16 are given lower salary but the country can still have more labour force to work.

Social stratification can be demonstrated in education system as the level of access and attainment of education correlates to the individual's level of economic status, social classes, gender, personal preferences etc. To put this into perspective, In Japan, only 10% could attend private school up to lower sec, it reflects that different levels of wealthiness and social classes determine if they have access to better high schools.
On the flip side, Japan education system also attempts to provide an equal opportunity of education through comprehensive compulsory education to every individuals who are under 16 while most teachers have four years of degree which could ensure the quality of education is the same for everyone. Simultaneously, there are only limited autonomy for students to choose their textbooks or develop different curricula, which resulted in securances of equal and identitical education to every students.

The education is stratified because students must choose what path they will follow in upper secondary system such as getting into university or work. The lower class are not financially able to gain more education therefore it is more likely for them to find work which will then lead to the same cycle. Students who have low performance must repeat their grade therefore not giving them the chance to improve themselves and the students that preform highly will have the advantage of earning higher positions and increase the mobility.
