I identified with this misconception because I have seen it in my own personal experience. I had a teacher who only taught her lessons one way, a way that made it hard for me to learn. I also went through my first year of teaching with coworkers who told me to figure it out on my own like they did. Every student and person learn things in their own way. I learn visually and hands on, but just telling me how to do something, I feel lost and alone. I struggle to make sense of what I need to know so I then spend hours of wasted time playing around with the content or software until I get what I am doing and I have done it right.

I can help reverse others way of thinking when it comes to this misconception by showing them how hard it can be for a student to learn the way the teacher is teaching. I can set up a simulation that gives the teachers a different point of view and then I can help them create a lesson plan that works well for all.

Here are my results. I am a visual learner. A teacher who lectures the entire class time is not the teacher for me. I need the teacher who will visually put things up on the board and have us move around when we learn a new concept or just to activate our background knowledge. Not only does this quiz tell me what type of learner I am, but it tells me how I can optimize my learning needs. A teacher can look at those tips and plan a lesson fit for all of her students.
