It's strange to me how teenagers today don't really understand ownership of an image. This is something that was taken for granted when I was a teenager

It depends on the purpose of the image... if you take the image for someone else then they own the image, if you take an image for yourself you can own your own photo but everyone has the opportunity to have your photo.

Photos and artworks are uniquely made in a way where the artist can express themselves as an individual. Ownership of images is crucial towards understanding the perspective that was taken when artworks are made. Otherwise, pieces can be perceived differently than intended by the artist.

If the photographer takes the photo while not on a job or when being paid then the ownership of the image belongs to the photographer. If the photo is taken when the photographer is being paid by someone to take photos for them, then the photo belongs to the person that hired the photographer has ownership of the image.

The ownership of the image can vary depending on whether the image was taken for someone of not. If you're paid by someone to take a picture of them then they own the photo but if you're just taking pictures for self pleasure then you own the image.

The technology being used in photography has changed a lot over time. It started with the camera obscura where the image had to be drawn. Then it slowly evolved to film photography, which was in black and white, and now we can take pictures digitally and choose if we want it to be in black and white or colour.
