Rome controlled the Mediterranean world because it was able to conquer Carthage, a city just on the coast of Tunisia, allowing them to take control. Also because their focal point was their large armies. They had control for about five hundred years. In 33CE, whilst Paul was traveling the world to spread the gospel messages, the main languages that were used were Greek and Jewish. We know this because Paul was raised Jewish, but later-on He learned the universal language of Greek.
Since Rome conquered areas that had different ethnicities, some of the different cultural/ethnic groups are Judaism and Christianity. Since there was no such thing as cars during 33CE, some of the main methods of transport that were used are by boat through rivers and oceans, on horseback through ancient dirt routes. The main regions Paul came across on his first, second, and the third journey is Tarsus, Jerusalem, Damascus. A few of the main cities that Paul came across are Salamis, Paphos, Antioch of Pisidia, Lystra, Derbe, Attalia, Seleucia Piera.

The conversion of Saul of Tarsus was very significant as it allowed him to spread the message of christianity and turned him into a believer in Jesus christ. On his journey towards Damascus, a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and Jesus told him to get up and go into the city to spread his message.

Over 10 years, Paul had journeyed over the world many times, but there were 3 major journeys. On these journeys he aimed to do 4 things, these were: Spreading the Gospel messages, Convert Jews into Gentiles, Start Christian communities and supported established communities. Paul's first journey was the shortest, in time and distance but it was still a very significant journey as it spread the history of the new Christian church. On his first journey he traveled around the eastern part of the Mediterranean sea, in hopes of spreading the message of Christianity.

Throughout all 13 letters Paul wrote have a message behind them. Paul's purpose for writing the letters was to get his point across that everyone is equal and no one person is better than another.te Some of the main messages that Paul wrote about are that Christ died for us as sinners, that we are all children of god and nothing can seperate us from his love ( Romans ).

One example of a cultural challenge for Paul is, people were saying if gentiles wanted to be christians they would have to follow the jewish laws, Paul did not think this was necessary because he believed that all you have to do to be a christian is believe in Jesus.
