  • The opening sentence seems to be normal and nothing unusual about it.
  • The boy is playing on top of a mound.
  • The setting is the boy crouched on top of the mound. Gives us sympathy as the both is playing alone.
  • The boy isn't named neither are his man or the man that is wearing black. Which distances us from the boy and doesn't tell us a lot of information about his mam or the man
  • Broken glass could foreshadow that

In this part the pathetic fallacy foreshadows that there will be a dark and possibly scary character. Also in this paragraph we are more zoomed in on the description on the man, it is described to make a creepy image for the reader. It makes the reader question whether the it's a lamppost or "tall thin man", we are given a sense of mysteriousness as we are put in the position of the boy and therefore just as confused.

    2)only slightly, using a angry tone it gives a change in. The boys feelings and also hocks in the reader by showing a change for the boy. It is also enhance by the change of the wether to be more darker.

    3) it is mainly focuse on the boy

    The ends resolution is incomplete: the people are sill missing, the man is gone and the child is all alone, there is no resolution to the story.
