Douglass’s word choice conveys the theme of dehumanization in chapter two by showing how the blacks were being treated and how they had a limited right of speech and action. Douglass’s word choice also conveys the theme of dehumanization in chapter two by showing how they were thought less than the least unworthy object. It states in the narrative “...the slaves of all the other farms received their monthly allowance of food, and yearly clothing... the whole thing could not have cost more than seven dollars.” This evidence shows that the white slave owners or just the racist white portion of the states, just don’t think much about them and don’t think they are worth nearly as much as prisoners or even horses whom has more than ten saddles and blanket each. It also states “... of both sexes, almost naked, might be seen at all seasons of the year.” This evidence shows how the whites really didn’t think about the slaves dignity and this evidence also further shows how Douglass's word choice conveys the theme of dehumanization in chapter two.

Fredrick Douglass word choice conveys the theme of dehumanization in chapter 2 because he shows that slaves were being treated badly. In addition slaves only had one pair of clothing for the whole year. In “Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” it states that “There were no beds given the slaves, unless one coarse blanket be considered such, and none but the men and women had these”. To add on in the text it states that “When these failed them, they went naked until the next allowance-day.” These two pieces of evidence shows that slaves were treated poorly even children. In addition it also shows that slaves were not as privileged as white people. Overall, Frederick Douglass shows that slaves were being treated poorly.

Douglass's word choice convey the theme of dehumanization in Chapter 2 because it shows how the slaves was being treated appallingly. In chapter 2 it states, " Children from seven to ten years old, of both sexes, almost naked, might be seen at all seasons of the year". This explains that they were being treated badly because they barely had clothing for themselves and it was too the point the children were almost naked. Another piece of evidence that shows how Douglass's word choice convey the theme of dehumanization is in Chapter 2 it states, " there were no beds given the slaves, unless one coarse blanket be considered such, and none but the men and women had these." This elucidates that they were being treated badly because the slaves didn't even receive beds to sleep on, they had to sleep on hard surfaces. This is how Douglass's word choices convey the theme of dehumanization.

Another Example is " Mr severe the overseer, used to stand by the door of the head quarter , armed with a large cow skin , ready to whip anyone who was unfortunate not to hear" this evidence explain to m that the type of cruelty that our ancestors have to go through it is very sad . In Chapter 2 , it states, "Children from seven to ten years old, of both sexes , almost naked might naked might be seen at all seasons of the year. This is an example, of dehumanization because humans are allowing each other to be bare naked. It also states, "All of these lived at the great house farm and enjoyed the luxury of whipping the servants when they pleased. This shows another way slaves were treated poorly because humans got pleasure in whipping other humans to make them feel less of themselves . This are some examples based on dehumanization.

According to the text it states " their yearly clothing consisted of two coarse linen shirts, one pair of linen trousers, like the shirts, one jacket, one pair of trousers for winter, made of coarse negro cloth, one pair of stockings, and one pair of shoes." This evidence shows what the adults had to wear a short amount of clothes compared to the plethora of clothes the masters had. The slaves were treated horribly off of clothes. Another example in the text is "the poor man was then informed by his overseer that, for having found fault with his master, he was now to be sold to a Georgia trader." This evidence explains the slaves had no rights to speak his or her words out to any one.

Frederick Douglass word choice convey the theme of dehumanization in chapter 2, by how the masters talked to the slave's. And how masters wake the slaves up to work. For example the text states, "mr. Severe, the overseer, used to stand by the door of the quarter, armed with a large hickory stick and heavy cowskin, ready to whip any one who was so unfortunate as not to hear, or, from any other cause, was prevented from being ready to start for the field at the sound of the horn." This shows that slave's are getting whipped for waking up late and not being on the farm to work there buttoms off and get nothing out of it. Another example the text states, "well, boy, whom do you belong to? To colonel Lloyd, replied the slave. Well, does the colonel treat you well? No, sir, was the ready reply. What, does he work you to hard? Yes, sir. Well, dont he give you enough to eat? Yes, sir, he gives me enough, such as it is." This shows that the way these masters tall to there slave's is so disrespectful and ignorant of themselves to be treating a slave's the way they wouldn't want to be treated.

Douglass's word choice convey the theme of dehumanization in Chapter 2 due to the slave holders treating the slaves poorly. They would beat them till the y have scars or till they see a lot of blood, use languages that should not be use, on top of that the don't have the proper attire they get 2 pairs of clothing each year and if it gone they work naked. In the text it states " Their yearly clothing consisted of two coarse linen shirts, one pair of linen trousers, like the shirts, one jacket, one pair of trousers for winter, made of coarse negro cloth, one pair of stockings, and one pair of shoes; the whole of which could not have cost more than seven dollars". This piece of evidence sows how the slave holders were cruel that they could not even give them enough clothes to last them a year. In the text it also states "I have seen him whip a woman, causing the blood to run half an hour at the time; and this, too, in the midst of her crying children, pleading for their mother's release.

Douglass's word choice conveys dehumanization in chapter 2 because slave owners were so cruel. Also slave masters saw less I'm slaves because of the color of their skin. How would you feel if people judged by the color of your skin. In the book " Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass" it states "Children from seven to ten years old, of both sexes, almost naked, might seen at all seasons of the year." Showing how Frederick Douglass knows that kids don't have clothes and almost naked. These kids work, so imagine working almost naked and, not getting paid. This also shows how slave owners don't care for the condition of their slaves. Another detail is "Colonel Lloyd kept from three to four hundred slaves on his home plantation, and owned a large number more on the neighboring farms belongings to him." This detail shows how Frederick Douglass's master was not only a slave master but, he owned three to four hundred slaves! Overall, chapter 2 was about how Douglas's word choice conveys dehumanization.
