COMMON NAME: Fennec Fox
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Vulpes zerda


The Fennec Fox (Vulpes zerda) is  the smallest of all the world's foxes. 
Its most distinctive feature is its unusually large ears.
It is a small fox native to the deserts of North Africa (from Western Sahara and Mauritania to the Sinai Peninsula).

HABITAT: Desert of the Sahara, North Africa

CLASSIFICATION: Mammals

CURIOSITIES: it is an extremely curious and intelligent animal.
For this characteristic and for the habit of disappearing into one of its galleries under the sand, the nomads call him "desert goblin".

It is considered an exotic pet in some parts of the world.

The fennec fox has the ability to go for long periods without water.

SIZE: 
Length (Head and body): 29 to 41 centimeters; 

WEIGHT: 1.6 kilograms.

DIET: Omnivore. 
It eats plants but also rodents, eggs, reptiles and insects.
It lives with very little water.
Most of the water it needs comes from the plants it consume.
