         <description><![CDATA[<div>George Stephenson was born on the day of July 9th, 1781 at Wylam, which is near Newcastle-upon-Tyne. What he did was that he followed his father's trade of colliery engineman (in other words, men that worked in coal mines).<br>At the age of 23, in 1804 at Killingworth Colliey, he took charge of a winding engine belonging to the Grand Allies, who was an important group of coal masters who controlled the pits. In 1813, he was told to build a locomotive (a machine or invention used to pull trains) for the Killingworth mine.  </div>]]></description>
