One way I would explain the coordinate grid to a 4th grader is by first explaining what the x and y axis is. You use a coordinate grid. First, you would look at the ordered pair. For example, you can do
(6, 20). Then you would start at the origin. The first number in the perentheses is the x-axis and the second number in the perentheses is the y-axis. After that, you would start at the origin and move 6 spaces to the right and 20 spaces up. The 6 is the x-coordinate and the 20 is the y--coordinate. Then you plot the point and name it. (A,B,C,D,E......)

So then on the graph you move to the right or left depending on the number. Same goes with the y-axis but the y-axis you have to go up or down instead. When the x-axis and the y-axis meet you are ready to plot the point. At the end you plot the point and name it. (A,B,C,D,E)

Hey, Welcome Working with a coordinate grid can be confusing when you don't know much about it, But it gets easier and easier when you start working with it more it gets more easy. Just start by finding your origin then plot your x-axis ( or finding it) ( a x-axis is at the bottem of your grid) Then plot your y-axis ( y-axis is one the side of your grid)ok now connect your point! Now your know the basic steps! it gets easier trust me. This is just the start of working with a coordinate grid.
