Because our PLC curriculum is aligned, we are able to rotate the responsibility of creating our daily agendas. We each create a week's worth, but only once every 3 weeks.  Along those same lines, lessons, assignments, assessments & pacing are all planned together, but the creation of them is divided & conquered as equally as possible.

2. All Daily Agendas are linked into our Canvas Home Pages so when students are absent they know to just go to the agenda to see what they missed. All lessons, notes, resources, assignments, etc. are linked into each Daily Agenda. Students can then email specific questions if they have any AFTER viewing the work we did when they were gone. This rarely happens b/c the agendas are completely transparent.  I have a student right now who is keeping up with her class work while on a 2 week European vacation thanks to the easy access to our agendas.

3. Anyone have tips for providing meaningful feedback to students on a consistent basis? It is the nature of the job, especially in ELA, but if there are any more shortcuts I'd sure love to hear them!

Anyone have any tips on making bi-weekly reading and writing probes more manageable so that there is more teaching time and less testing time? --The re-assessment center has been wonderful in helping with students who have to take a number of them at once for establishing a baseline or for students who miss a probe day. When student have an infraction, they receive a tally mark (dink) in the appropriate column. Behavior patterns are beginning to emerge for some and the tallies can be tabulated for report cards and conferences.

I have a 7th grade and 8th grade table right by the door and have conditioned students to know that if there is a paper on their class's table to grab it before the bell rings. Doing this instead of taking class time to pass out materials (for me) saves an average of 4 minutes (10% of class).

Red: I did not learn today's target(s) and need further instruction...I will contact the teacher with my questions

Yellow:  I am unclear about today's learning target(s), and need further clarification.  I will review my notes and contact the teacher if needed

Green: I understand today's learning target(s) and am prepared to move on to the next steps.

Allows you to check for needs on reteaching whole group vs. guided instruction next class vs. moving forward to next lesson.

Help! Keeping track of all the shared docs, emails, surveys, etc.
Since projects require so much time to grade,our question to colleagues might be how to grade them more efficiently. Another question we have is how to encourage creativity and passion when all our time is spent on meeting standards, reteaching, reassessing etc.
Having the attitude that it is impossible to do everything so it is most healthy and smarter to prioritize and not sweat the small stuff.

Because the outcomes/rubrics are already very detailed, it requires one click for students to receive helpful feedback. When giving written feedback, I continually add to a master "bank" of common written feedback so I can just copy, paste, and then delete what I don't need for that student.
