Mia started out as a shy girl who kept to herself and never really went outside her comfort zone. Mia's life consisted of her cello and keeping to herself, until she met Adam. Already Mia was changing, she was hanging out more and more with Adam and really putting herself out there. However, Mia changes even more when she becomes involved in a car accident that puts her in a come, she has to decide what is really important in life and if she wants to come back. I didn't love the book mostly because I found myself upset with the characters. Mia irritated me with the fact that she wasn't sure if she wanted to wake up and Adam irritated me with how he wanted her to come back just for him. Adam was the one who pushed Mia to step outside her comfort zone, listen to new music, go new places, and meet new people. Even during Mia's coma after the car accident Adam plays a pretty big role. Adam goes to the hospital and talks to Mia telling her to come back to him and the people who love her, even though her parents are gone.
