Instead of working on this and updating my development diary weekly, I’ve decided to the FMP project, I will be uploading dated copies of my projects for my third year on this diary, separate from the rest of the diary stuff

My FMP will be a 6-track EP that utilizes Vocal Synths, both AI and non AI biased as well as human singer. The first song I am working on is for the recently announced Miku Expo 2026 song contest with fellow vocaloid producer and friend, Beakodise. The contest deadline is the 22nd of October so this will be my focus until then

been focusing on adjusting to uni life again, so its been a while since i got onto this project again, since I started before uni. I came up with some lyrics for my project!

i shifted my midi parts into key and tempo and put the two parts next to eachother. gotta work quick tho, the deadline for this song is coming up quicker than i thought. I've removed the vocals and will add them back once i've got the idea fully made out. for now, the piano will be the 'vocals'. I also added litte sound effects to beakos part to give it a bit more of my personal style

apparently ive exceeded file limits for padlet, i will be using google drive links to share song developments from now on

Beako recorded a guitar part i wrote out for the chorus, which is just some simple rhythm stuff, and I added that in. he also recorded a slide, which I've added at the transitions to help smooth them out. with the chorus and verse now sharing insturmentation, its sounds a lot better

We've added a vocal outline to the verse, and i've finally fully arranged the peice!

We also finalized the name to be "Our Revolution"

so me, beako, and one of our friends who goes by "IMPOSTER-P" spent a good 4-5 hours sitting on a call, making these lyrics for this song. we got so much done, and now it's just time for me to tune and mix

just 2 hours before the deadline of the 23rd at 3 AM, i've spent ages and ages just sat down, working on creating harmonies, tuning miku, and doing the mix. This has been so painful, and i dont have much energy left, but for now, this is the song and it needs to be submitted to the contest in its current state. I'm not super happy with the tuning, the mix still needs more work but I've run out of time and I will work on this again later

PARASTAGE Opening

On october 5th, I was contacted to work on a track. During this call, I learned more about the commision, learning that I would be working on an indie phsycological horror game called "Parastage", and my job was to just create a track for the teaser.

My plan for now is to start work on this after I've finished the Miku Expo track with Beakodise, get this song done and then turn it into a full arrangment with lyrics for the EP afterwards and potentially to be used as an opening track for the game later down the line

I was sent the WIP of the video for the teaser trailer, and It had a vibe that I felt that one of my previous unreleased projects had. I sent Melon and Ayake the song, which is just privated on soundcloud, and told them I could use this project as a base and rework it into the teaser instead of having to create something brand new from scratch. They both said they liked it and would be happy for me to use it, so I opened up the old project file and got to work

The first thing I did was a part of the video where a bunch of things were going to be made from clay . I thought a chill yet mysterious vibe would fit it, so I took the pads and chords from the chorus of HNA and used those for this.

I added a bunch of new things today! I made a EQ crossfade between the calm pad part and the energetic section. I also created another section that feels more melancholic and distant to be used for the outro. I now have three main sections, so now I just need to arrange it so its mostly in time with the video

I have worked on this alot over the last few days. I've removed all automation so I can freely arrange and move things without having to worry about the automation screwing me over. I made a section that sounds happier that brings the song into G major from G minor for a bit, which comes with its own set of insturmentation to sounds brighter and lighter. I also moved the ending part to the opening since there have since been updates since the last video. Project is coming together and this part of the song will probably be done soon!

I got around to adding in some extra things in the intro and outro since they felt a little too empty. I utilized the plucks from HNA and added them in and downloaded a random static sound from youtube and EQ's and filtered it a ton to get it to give some background noise. The same static sound is used near the end and it has a bitcrusher and lower filter to make it sound creepy and darker. I extened some parts to fit Melon's request and added in the EQ for the happy section

I just did a quick little mix to get some of the elements to sound better. Added than pan on the plucks, controlled the levels of the kick and snare and cleaned up a bit for all the synths that make up the track. My favourite thing I added was a bit crush to the master track, which i used to crush the ending of the track to give it a really cool effect to make it sound like the track is falling apart (?) at the end. That was inspired by the ending of Mitski's "Washing Machine Heart"

I have been recruited by a few Vocaloid Producer friends to help create a project to help someone in our community who is a queer teen living in an abusive home who was recently outed by someone, and found themsevles in a very dangerous situation at home.

So this is a fundraising project that we are making a song to promote essentially. I've never made a christmas song, but after a few hours of researching it, I disocvered that compositonally its just jazz with sleigh bells.

Operation: SANTA

we came up with the name Operation: S.A.N.T.A. (acronym still undecided) and its gonna be a wholesome song about a pair of sibling setting traps to try to find and catch santa on christmas

heres the first comopsition, which I came up with fairly quickly in just about 2 hours. It's pretty fun to experiment with new techniques and genres that I've never written in before. This feels like it has alot of potential to become something pretty cool (literally)

I've started getting together some ideas for the next song on the EP.

It's about a relationship where someone is in love with somebody who does not feel emotions and is sociopathic, a romantic relationship fuled by contradictions and apathy. The title "Apathetic Lover" or "Love Apathy Romantic Girl" has come to mind for it, and I want to use one of the SynthV voices gifted to me by Dreamtonics

The vocal I'm looking to use right now is "Yi Xi 2", who is a powerful rap vocal who's native language is Chinese. She's become known in western vocaloid for her versatility and range thanks to the song "Butcher Vanity"

My deadline for this song is Feburary 7th

The main motif I want to use is defienetly the line "Lover Apathetic, Pathetic Pathetic". I also want to utilize the rap feature for SynthV for a breakdown section.

I'm thinking of making it sound kind of pop-rock, so alot of guitars and distortion and grit. The next step is to open up Cubase and get to work

Here's a little idea for lover apathetic! It's in F Minor. The melody is catchy but the chords sound nothing like how I want it to sound like. it feels like they lack the power I'm looking to put into the song

01-02/02/26 - Strong Ideas

Ok, I spent a lot of time today working on the song. I started out by looking around the internet to see if i could find a decent sounding Vital guitar preset. And I managed to find one that was actually suprisingly passable for a real guitar.

I loaded up the preset into vital and started playing around with Cubase's amp simulation plugin. I managed to get a really nice sound that has the perfecet vibe of what I am going for.

The chords themselves however still had something off about them. alot of the music I make relies on standard triads and 7th chords, and turning those piano triabs into guitar chords did not work for me either. I realized that what I still felt was missing was "Power", so I turned my triads into power chords and just like magic, it sounded perfect.

After that, I added a simple bassline under the chords and cleaned up the drums, and added some extra bits of earcandy to the chorus and some extra synths to work with the rhythm

I also started working on an intro, verse and pre-chorus. The intro uses the same core structure and insturments with a diffrent melody over top. The verse and pre chorus both use a simple I - V two chord progression.

Finally, It was arranged into the Intro-Verse-Pre Chorus-Chorus-Verse to make sure every part flowed naturally into eachother.

I added a vocal outline over the top of the chorus and prechorus! But what I want to focus on is the technuqies I used to make the guitars (specifically the rhythm) sound better.

I set my grid to be at 1/128, and created a strum pattern for the gutars by slightly shortening some notes and randomizing the velocity of each note to be +/- 15

I've added a new section for the breakdown rap section! It uses a darker amp preset that I found on the amp simulator to get a heaveir guitar tone for it, and I made the drums a whole lot faster and crazier for the section. There is also a section before the final chorus that mostly just uses synth pads. This creates an intresting dynmaic and tonal shift through the last minuite of the song where the music sort of expressing the emotion jounrey of the relationship talked about in the song. I see it as going from idealizing the "Lover" to anger then regret just to fall back into the cycle again, and i'll be changing the lyrics for this section slightly to reflect this.

The leadup to the breakdown is in an odd time signature. I was too lazy to figure out how I wanted the time signature to change, so I just ignored it fot the section and made sure the first bar of the breakdown section was aligned with the grid. But, somehow, out of laziness to think things out properly, I managed to get it to sound really cool, and the heavier insturments suprise drop the listener. I am quite proud of this section.

Today was meant to be the due date I set for myself to get this song done. It's very close so I am going to give it a rough mix tomorrow and leave it to be mixed properly once all the songs are done

I got a message on instagram from an artist. They claim they want to make a music video for me free of charge to get practice making animated MVs. I gave them the demo of Lover Apathetic, the lyrics and a description of the song.

We decided to go with a dark red and black color scheme for the song, and they already gave me a little sheet with a character design for Yi Xi

This has developed a bit. It's pretty much just added more sounds into the project and played around with the melody. I'm kinda stuck on this project though. The "verse" section has the same chords as the chorus but with the last one removed. nothing about it really is motivating me to keep moving forward with the project.

I've sent this demo to singer "flowntoofar" and we will see if we can develop this project further

Beako gave me some feedback on the track! I think alot of these could turn up roses. I just hope i can get it sounding alright

I realized today that for some reason, my exports sounded distorted. Turns out, instead of having my export settings be 32 Bit Stereo it was set to a 16 bit mono downmix. The audio quality will be much nicer in the next update

10/02/26 - Song 4 Development

Song 4 is actually starting to sound... good? I took in alot of Beakos advice. I broke up the pattern and added a little drum break between the intro and first verse section. I reporposed the "verse" from the last demo to be used as a build-up to the chorus since they pretty much share the same chords. I started this verse by playing around a i - v chord progression. It didn't sound good as it, so I played around with the bassline and caught something catchy. I ended up settling on a VII - v - i progression for the verse

After a long break from working on the Parastage song, I've finally started working on it again! I've changed some of the insturments and added some other to make the song more suited for vocals. I still dont know what Singer I will use for the song, but it will likely be Dex or Miku. This arrangment is mostly made up from old parts of the original arrangments with a few small addidtions. most of the changes are in the insturmentation.
