Mevlana’s father and his family were forced to leave Balkh due to political events and the Mongol invasion. Mevlana met with Sufi Feriduddin Attar in Nishapur. Mevlana was very young, but he attracted Ferîdüddin Attar’s attention.

Mevlana got married in 1225 in Karaman. His wife’s name was Gevher Hatun. Gevher Hatun was the daughter of Şerefeddin Lala. Mevlana had two sons. Their names were Sultan Veled and Alaeddin Celebi. Then Mevlana’s wife died. After his wife died, Mevlana married again. His new wife was Kerra Hatun, who had one child. Mevlana had three more children from his new wife. Their names were Muzaffereddin, Emir Ali Celebi and Melike Hatun.

Mevlana met Şems-i Tebrizî on 15 November 1244. But after a while, Şems suddenly died. Mevlana was very upset about the death of him. Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî died on 17 December 1273.

He put together a band named “Kafadarlar” and then another one “Harmoniler” with his friends. Then he went on his education at Şişli Terakki High School.

He put together a band named “Kaygısızlar” with Fuat Güner and Mazhar Alanson in 1970. He got married to Lale Manço in 1978. He had two children named Doğukan and Batıkan. Barış Manço died in 1st January 1999.

Kemal Sunal’s philosophy teacher Belkıs Balkır in Vefa High School introduced him to Müşfik Kenter. And this was a milestone in his life. Kemal Sunal acted in 82 films in his life.

Kemal Sunal had fear of flying. But he took the plane to go to Trabzon for the film Balalayka. He had a heart attack on the plane. Unfortunately, he died on 3rd July 2000.

He started Istanbul University School of Medicine in 1963. He graduated from Medical Faculty in 1971. He went to the USA to study after his graduation. Then he worked as a doctor in Mardin Savur which is his hometown, for two years.

He studied for doctorate at Texas University. His doktorate subject was molecular biology. Aziz Sancar received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2015.

Aziz Sancar is married to Gwen Boles Sancar who is a professor of biochemistry.

Sürmeneli became champion in the welterweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. By defeating China’s Gu Hong, Surmeneli sealed the first-ever Olympics medal in boxing for Turkey at Kokugikan Arena in the Japanese capital. She has displayed exceptional form throughout the tournament, winning all her bouts with a one-sided 5:0 result.

Sürmeneli won the gold medal in the 2022 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships in Istanbul. Surmeneli beat her Canadian opponent Charlie Cavanagh in the final of welterweight, to become world champion for a second time.

 

Pamuk is the author of novels including Silent House, The White Castle, The Black Book, The New Life, My Name Is Red, Snow, The Museum of Innocence, A Strangeness in My Mind and The Red-Haired Woman. He is the Robert Yik-Fong Tam Professor in the Humanities at Columbia University, where he teaches writing and comparative literature. He was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 2018.

Of partial Circassian descent and born in Istanbul, Pamuk is the first Turkish Nobel laureate. He is also the recipient of numerous other literary awards. My Name Is Red won the 2002 Prix du Meilleur Livre Étranger, 2002 Premio Grinzane Cavour and 2003 International Dublin Literary Award.

Sancar is currently the Sarah Graham Kenan Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is the co-founder of the Aziz & Gwen Sancar Foundation, which is a non-profit organization to promote Turkish culture and supports Turkish students in the United States.
