The Cold War is taking place in the world at the time the film refers to the moon landing, which is the first human arrival on the surface of the Moon. On a television is shown moon landing by the Apollo 11 on July 20 1969, however nobody is watching, because they are paying attention to Forrest Gump's amazing ping-pong skills. The Cold War was an ongoing political rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union and their respective allies that developed after World War II. The Space Race was a 20th-century competition between two Cold War adversaries, the Soviet Union (USSR) and the United States (US), to achieve superior spaceflight capability. It had its origins in the ballistic missile-based nuclear arms race between the two nations following World War II. The USSR achieved the first successful artificial satellite launch on October 4, 1957, of Sputnik 1, and sent the first human to space with the orbital flight of Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961. Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon, the crew included Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin. The whole mission took 8 days, 3 hours, 18 minutes and 35 seconds.

Elena Prodlik & Paulina Gucwa

Music in Forrest Gump- Elvis Presley

The movie ,,Forrest Gump'' is filled with music from 80's. Elvis Presley is one of the artists that adds the film the character. Let's talk about him:
Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo in state Missisipi in 1935. He was an american actor and singer (called The king of rock&rolll) who released such popular songs as Love me tender or Hound Dog. His music career started in 1954 when he started the collaboration with the owner of Sun Records- Sam Phillips. In november in 1956 he made his film debut in Love Me Tender. In 1958 he was drafted to the army, and two years later he returned to recording. For most of the 1960's, Presley starred in films and recorded soundtracks for them. After seven- year hiatus, he returned to live singing in 1968. In 1973 Presley participated in aloha from Hawaii- the first concert to be broadcast via satellite.
Forrest's mother to support herself financially rented rooms to transients. Once a man who plays a guitar stopped there. He was impressed by the Forest's dancing skills in orthopedic splints. They spent a lot of time together. Forrest showed to the man his steps. A few days later, the same man was performing with a musical group on television with the exact same steps. It was Elvis Presley.
The main cause of Elvis Presley's heart attack includes his unhealthy lifestyle, as well as his drug problem. The singer began consuming an appalling amount of them while struggling with various mental health issues. He became addicted to prescription drugs. The once athletic Presley began to gain weight, leading an increasingly destructive lifestyle. He even ended up in the hospital, causing local Elvis shows to be put on hold for a while as well as his entire tour. Presley was battling colon and liver damage at the time, as well as high blood pressure and related heart problems. No wonder Elvis Presley had a heart attack. With this lifestyle, it wasn't hard to get one at all.
Elvis' loyal fans gathered in crowds of about 80,000 thousand people when the musician was buried (August 18, 1973). Presley was buried near the graves of his parents on the Graceland estate.

Ola&Wiktoria

Music in Forrest Gump- John Lennon

John Lennon was a British musician in the popular British Group The Beatles. Forrest Gump met John Lennon when he was invited to be on The Dick Cavett Show after returning home to the United States from China playing ping-pong. It is implied that Forrest accidentally inspires the lyrics to Lennon's song "Imagine". After Cavett introduces Forrest and Lennon to each other, he asks Forrest what China was like. Forrest says "Well, in the land of China, people hardly got nothing at all," and Lennon asks "No possessions?" Forrest then says "And in China, they never go to church," to which Lennon says "No religion, too?" Here, Cavett interjects "Hard to imagine", but Lennon says "Well, it's easy if you try, Dick." All three of these spoken phrases by Lennon are worked into the famous song. Forrest mentioned Lennon also when he was narrating his life story at the bus stop in Savannah. But what about John Lennon specifically? He was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist[2] who achieved worldwide fame as the founder, co-lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. After the Beatles disbanded in 1970, Lennon continued his career as a solo artist and as Ono's collaborator, Yoko Ono was his wife. I could write about Lennon's life and who he was, what he did for a long time, but what is important I think he did not die naturally but he was assacinated.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on 8 December 1980, Lennon autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for fan Mark David Chapman before leaving The Dakota with Ono for a recording session at the Record Plant.[164] After the session, Lennon and Ono returned to their Manhattan apartment in a limousine at around 10:50 p.m. EST. They exited the vehicle and walked through the archway of the building when Chapman shot Lennon twice in the back and twice in the shoulder[165] at close range. Lennon was rushed in a police cruiser to the emergency room of Roosevelt Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 11:15 p.m. (EST).
Lennon autographing a copy of Double Fantasy for Chapman, six hours before his death.

Ono issued a statement the next day, saying "There is no funeral for John", ending it with the words, "John loved and prayed for the human race. Please do the same for him. His remains were cremated at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York. Ono scattered his ashes in New York's Central Park, where the Strawberry Fields memorial was later created.Chapman avoided going to trial when he ignored his attorney's advice and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 20-years-to-life.
</sup>

The Door's were not mentioned as directly as John Lennon's music but it was definitely something important in the film and also for the music industry, as well as for people. For instanse The Door's song "Love her Madly" appeared when the clerk told "When you're a Doors fan Love Her Madly will be the only song you WON'T love!" Will from Mcallen , Txthis song was played in the backround of a scene in forrest gump. where jenny is leaving her boyfriend.
The Doors were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. They were among the most controversial and influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly due to Morrison's lyrics, voice, and his erratic stage persona. They have been cited as one of the pioneers of psychedelia, and the group was widely regarded as an important part of the era's counterculture.
Morrison died in uncertain circumstances in 1971. The band continued as a trio until disbanding in 1973.[11][12] They released three more albums in the 1970s, two of which featured earlier recordings by Morrison, and over the decades reunited on stage in various configurations. In 2002, Manzarek, Krieger and Ian Astbury of the Cult on vocals started performing as "The Doors of the 21st Century". Densmore and the Morrison estate successfully sued them over the use of the band's name. After a short time as Riders on the Storm, they settled on the name Manzarek–Krieger and toured until Manzarek's death in 2013.

During the Cold War, part of it was a space race between 2 countries, USA and USRR. The goal of both countries was to get to the Moon first. Finally, the race is won by USA by sending their astronauts into space with the Apollo 11 mission. On July 20th 1969 crew of the mission arrives to the Moon. Neil Armstrong is the first person making steps on the Moon. When this event is being shown live on TV, nobody is watching it.

In the film there is one very important scene about racial segregation. It shows how black people were treating. They almost always didn't have an access to any education, if they did, they couldn't learn with white people. Government and society were almost always refusing to let them educate. When one of the universities finally wanted to allow black people to learn there, it was on the news. crowd congregated and people were outraged by the decision and didn't agree with it. It shows how much black people were persecuted because of their skin colour.
