I’m surprised that since there are 7 people inside of one annex that they wouldn’t be more careful when going into hiding. I read this last year and there were quite a few close calls when it came to being discovered. The specific page I’m talking about though is page 41, the page talks about a carpenter fixing the house not knowing they were there. Anne says that there was no warning but shouldn’t there be like some sort of schedule or something so they know when to be extra quiet??

I’m confused as to what a W.C is on page 36. I definitely skipped a chapter or something cause I’m kinda lost. It’s probably just a place (I’m lying I know what it is I HATE THIS BOOK IVE ALREADY READ IT). I chose this to be “confused” about cause I already fricking read this and idk maybe other people would be confused about that.

Some connections I can personally make with Anne is how confident she is. On the end of page 40 and the beginning of page 41, she mentioned how she asked her sister, Margot, if she was ugly and Margot said she was attractive with nice eyes. Anne said the comment was rather vague, I personally find it kinda funny and easy to relate too. I can be a little confident at times even when I’m joking.

I’ve realized while reading that even though Anne is a 13 year old in the 1940’s, she still has the teenage thinking I guess. I feel like even though there are some many differences between young teenagers now and then, there are still so many similarities between us. Mostly what I’m talking about is her sense of humor that you can see through what we have read so far (pages 40,41,57 etc).

I think the signpost is Memory Moment because when Anne is expressing her thoughts and feelings in the diary she is talking about the past, hence the memory moments. On page 68, she talks in past tense.

On page 234, Mrs. Van Daan talks about how strong the Germans are and how they are going to win the war. I wonder if she knows that they don’t like her, like is she ignorant about what’s happening or is she just like stupid? I mean she’s hiding for a reason, from the Germans to be exact so I wonder if she’s rooting for them cause she seems happy that they’re winning.

I’m surprised that they brought a cat up there ( I’m assuming Mouschi is a cat). On page 231, Anne talks about the damage Mouschi has caused by sitting by the wet box and honestly, they have a ton of patience. You’re telling me a cat cause our food supply to be spoiled?? Absolutely not the cat is becoming dinner.

When Anne sent a letter to her dad about wanting to go upstairs to be with Peter on page 226-227, I can understand wanting to get your point across when you feel like you have been wronged in a way. Also when she talked about his response I feel like I can relate cause I don’t like being scolded.

I have a lot of feelings and thoughts about Peter and Anne’s relationship (you already know where this is about to go). In this day and AGE it is weird to date someone while in your teens that is 4 YEARS OLDER THEN YOU. However, back then the time was different with very different circumstances since she was stuck in an attic for 2 years she kinda went a little mental. However, I don’t think I’d ever be that down bad especially with all the huzz she had outside of the annex.

A quote from the afterword that Anne said was “I want to go on living even after my death.” It resonates with me because even so long after her death, almost 100 years ago, she is still talked about and being carried on as she wished.
