no! different people will like and dislike different things, it's only natural. everyone has the right to choose what they want to see and they have a choice to choose what they wish to patronise. (eg, galleries will inform public about exhibitions, if you dont like the artist/content, dont patronise it) we dont have to restrict everyone to one particular kind of art and force everyone to conform to what others like

uh i think we should let them be....if the artist made the decision to carry out the art work, he/she should have taken the consequences into consideration. They would have known that the art work was dangerous and if they died, that was their choice. their life, their choice. #freewill#dowhateveryouwant#livelife

.nah leave em be;; artists who do such obscene things are aware of the impacts and consequences brought upon their actions ( whether it kills them or something else) so like they do what they wanna do its not like we are in any better position to tell them to stop everything ,, plus it actually challenges society to think and step out out of the FILTER BUBBLE of basic art that people likes to see

to some people, CONTROVERSIAL ART SHOULD BE CENSORED. people may be sensitive and might find art that should be enjoyable, offensive. To prevent backlash on some controversial artists, these art works should be censored. Some art are extremely extreme (e.g: hurting living things) and can cause many people to be numb to these topics in the disputable works.

to some people,
CONTROVERSIAL ART SHOULD NOT BE CENSORED. The point of art is fir the artist to express his views and opinions towards a certain topic. Art should be a medium to start discussions amongst the audience, thus it will be meaningless for the population to just look at art for aesthetic and pleasing purposes. Even though art may be controversial, artists have the choice to make decisions based on how they want to portray these works. The artists will be the ones facing consequences thus, they will be accountable for what they release and exhibit to the public. Therefore, these artists will be responsible for their works and should not be up to someone who has the authority over what the artist decides to exhibit.

To censor art, no matter its historical significance and public disagreement it may bring about for various reasons, renders the initial purpose of art useless. Art, in its purest form, is meant to be the expression of feelings, the visual representation of what the artists is feeling or trying to show. All people need to have the freedom to express opinions and feeling. While there is a factor of danger at play, by freely promoting controversial art that threatens health and lives of the artist, such as Rhythm Zero by Marina Abramovic and Shoot by Chris Burden, which could potentially inspire youths to impulsively and similarly flirt with death, why should we bar them and degrade the value of their voice? This is not to say that public concern over safety, debasement of religious factors and the integrity of art should be invalidated. Precautions and warnings should be taken to protect the artist's life as much as possible without compromising their vision or the message they are trying to voice, but to hinder them from

If they feel uncomfortable or uneasy viewing a certain type of artwork, they have the option of refusing to look at it. At the same time, artists who choose to display controversial or possibly offensive pieces of art, will have to face the consequences of being looked down on or having their creative products taken down in places like galleries. Furthermore, controversial artworks that explore extreme measures allow the message being conveyed to be amplified for an audience. If we take this away, not only do we taint the recognition that an artist could receive for their piece but we impinge their human right – the freedom of expression

- hannah, zhu yi & hillary

We feel that controversial art should not be censored. Censorship is the restriction of an artist's form of self-expression — especially since some of these artists have also chosen to voluntarily harm themselves in order to convey a message. However, we also understand that some Controversial works may be disturbing or unpleasant to certain audiences. We could instead choose to put a warning before displaying the work such that the audience can make a more informed choice whether or not they want to view the artwork.

- hasel, videl, rosha
