The reason: They digest only about a fifth of what they eat. Overall, bamboo is not very nutritious. To stay healthy, they have to eat a lot—up to 15 percent of their body weight in 12 hours—so they eat fast.

Habitat

High in dense bamboo forests in the misty, rainy mountains of southwestern China lives one of the world's rarest mammals: the giant panda, also called the panda. Only about 1,500 of these black-and-white bears survive in the wild.

Physical Appearance

Pandas' molars are very broad and flat. The shape of the teeth helps the animals crush the bamboo shoots, leaves, and stems that they eat. They can chomp on bamboo up to one-and-a-half inches thick.

Diet

Pandas eat almost nothing but bamboo shoots and leaves. Occasionally they eat other vegetation, fish, or small mammals, but bamboo accounts for 99 percent of their diets.

Introduction

Geckos are reptiles. Most geckos are nocturnal, which means they are active at night but some of the geckos are also active during the day. They are warm-blooded reptiles, meaning they rely on external heat sources to regulate their body temperature.

Habitat

Geckos are found on all the continents except Antarctica. The colourful lizards have adapted to habitats from rain forests to deserts and to cold mountain slopes. Do you know you can even find geckos inside your house too?

Physical Appearance

Do you know that most geckos do not have movable eyelids? Instead, they have one transparent eyelid which they keep clean by licking it with their tongues. Geckos also have special features that help them to survive and avoid predators. Their tails help balance their weight as they climb branches and as camouflage to help them disappear into their environment.

Diet

Geckos nibble on fruits and flower nectars. Geckos in Thailand primarily eat insects such as ants, crickets, spiders, moths and worms. They will also eat other insects such as grasshoppers, cockroaches and small lizards. This is definitely an interesting diet indeed!

  Introduction:

Cheetahs are the fastest mammal on land, the cheetah can reach speeds of 60 or perhaps even 70 miles (97 or 113 kilometers) an hour over short distances. It usually chases its prey at only about half that speed, however. After a chase,

a cheetah needs half an hour to catch its breath before it can eat.

  Habitat:

Although they typically prefer open grasslands, cheetahs live in a range of habitats across eastern and southern Africa.

Once found throughout Asia and Africa, cheetahs today are racing toward extinction. Loss of habitat and declining numbers of their prey combine to threaten the future of these cats. Physical Appearance: Although they typically prefer open grasslands, cheetahs live in a range of habitats across eastern and southern Africa.

Diet:

Because of their size, strength, and predatory skills, some scientists consider cheetahs to be one of the “big cats.” Tigers, lions, leopards, and jaguars are also part of this grouping. Unlike the rest of the group, cheetahs can’t roar, though they can they purr.
