That leads me to approach things differently, most often leading to disagreements on how to solve problems. I lost a lot of my confidence and love for physics because of this. As a result, I did not revisit physics until very recently and I feel behind. But I wouldn't want people to judge me as a scientist based on race or what I decide my identity is. To me it is more equal to say that all scientists are scientists, no matter religion, gender, or origin. But I also think that not seeing myself as someone meant to be a physicist has made me question things a lot more. I think it makes me think more deeply about concepts, and it ends up in this all or nothing kind of mindset - understanding something fully, or not at all. As a woman and an immigrant, I have felt that people may not really want me to be successful. I used to hold myself back a lot because of this, just to avoid making others not like me. I don’t think that strategy works lol.
