1 - Sell the song so the audience can remember it from the video.

2 - Provide the viewer with a better understanding and deeper meaning of the song to engage visually and audibly (achieved through performance storytelling)

The specific technique of disjointed cuts between locations that have no link to one another, and gives a jaring effect to the audience can be seen regularly in music videos of today.
