I wanted to incorporate the text from the cookbook in the backround. The cookbook inspired me to have a Chinese theme, and a Panda seemed fitting for a good pastel drawing. The Pastels were fun to blend and use for an animal such as a panda. Something I would change, would be the shoulders of the panda, making them more relaxed and realilistic. I enjoy sketching and pencils so I used artist pencils and lead to blend in textures and angles. Pastels and chalk are my favorite materials to use because I have the option to blend to my liking. I included dark shadows on the face to make it "pop" and after finishing the basics in black and white, I decided to incorporate blues, grays, and yellows to make the emotion more visible in his expressions. Tupac, considered a martyr in hiphop was killed at a young age so the light at the top sheds light gives hope. I blended lots of black and blue to get the back round and I continued to blend blacks and grays for highlights and increased texture.
