The TOK essay sounds like a massive load of garbage when you start out, and that's fine, you're allowed to dislike it and everything it stands for. Unless you're some sort of nutcase, in no world would you enjoy an assignment; let alone one that completely depends on you, not the resources you have. That being said, don't carry that mentality with you throughout the year. You and I might have different levels of motive and energy, but in my experience, dreading the essay was my biggest hurdle. So my advice to you is to not overestimate the essay and to not stress about it. Stressing about it is gonna make those fresh ideas leave like vapor. Once you muster up the mental capacity to start the essay, make sure you understand what you're getting into before writing anything cause at any point you could realize that whatever you wrote is completely unrelated. Aside from that, try and write as many drafts as you can fit into your schedule. Even if you only change a couple sentences or wordings, improve as often as you can and sink your teeth into as much feedback as you can. Get feedback from friends and/or classmates too. Your teacher isn't the one who wrote the good essays, they just decided that they were good via the rubrics they have. Idk what else to tell u soooo good luck and may your survival be long and your death be swift.

1- always have backup prompt for your essay as it is totaly normal to change your prompt after the first essay or even whilst writing your essay

2-look at previous years samples of tok essay's

3- always plan your essay before starting

4-whatch videos on how to decode and understand tok prompts

5-apply the feedback you get from your teacher and make other students read your essay and get their feedback as well

6-dont start with your essay the day of the deadline start preparing for it earlier

Don't leave it for the last minute.

Pick the perfect prompt for you, the more you can relate to the prompt the easier it will be for you to find example and different perspectives.
Do as many drafts and get as much feedback as possible to ensure perfection.
Cite as much as possible to avoid any chance of plagiarism.
Use AI efficiently, don't have it write the essay for you but use it to give you ideas.
