We have noticed that more and more students at our school want to become a YouTuber, or already have their own YouTube channel. On YouTube, children use vocabulary and behaviors that many of them do not use in real life. When we look at their works, we wonder how much we know our students at all? How much time does video recording take and how much time does it leave for everyday tasks? So I think it's important that parents are involved and well informed. Today's Safer Internet Day is the perfect time to raise awareness of the new youth challenge.

YouTube is one of the most popular networks among children and young people. It is more popular than Facebook and Instagram, and according to a recent survey conducted in Croatia - Youtube is the most visited social network for those aged 9-14. Children from an early age start to use the Internet, and YouTube is their main interest. The question is, what attracts them so much and what content do they watch?

YouTube stars exist and make money by entertaining the audience. The most popular channels are gaming channels, commenting on and explaining it, as well as those where “stars” expose themselves to their audience and comment on some common events, retell stories from their own lives and make fun of themselves. YouTubers are mostly young people who are about 20 years old.

Safe - never give your real name always give your username and dont give passwords or personal information.

Smart - accepting emails can be dangerous and include viruses.

Aware - if something make you feel worried or uncomfortable always tell someone.

Careful - Always think carefully before trusting what you see or hear.
