Throughout the creation of my products I have developed a much better understanding of Photoshop and I know I have improved dramatically as I have never used it before. I had to learn everything from scratch. This software has helped me to produce work of the highest quality and most professional with, once figured out, most of the tools being relatively easy to use. It also contains all the tools needed to alter any faults or effects to my work, so there is no need for another software. Some of the tools I have used within Photoshop are:

Quick Selection Tool: To cut out an object from an image. 

Shape Tool: To add different shapes to my magazine e.g. Ellipse Tool for the plug.  

Eyedropper Tool: To sample the colour so I could use it again. 

Text Tool: To add text to my work.

Free Transform: To change the size or rotation of my images.

These are just a few of the tools I have used. Along with the other tools I used I believe that altogether I have successfully made a magazine that would appeal to my wide target audience.

During the process, I learned to create blog posts, post pictures and videos and embed links in to the HTML section of a post. This made all my presentations from various sites visible on my blog. I also learned how to post on to my blog or save posts as drafts if I didn’t want to publish them at the time. Blogger has helped me as it allowed me to efficiently keep my work safe. I could save my posts as drafts and therefore edit my work later without anyone being able to see what I’d done until I was finished. It was probably the easiest to use as there was nothing new to learn and no animations are included. It can be used in various ways like a mind map for presenting ideas. I did this when I made my Masthead Magazine Ideas. It was probably the hardest to use for me as it was a much more complex presentation and it took a bit of time beforehand to research how to use it. Even though it was much more time consuming, it was probably the most beneficial and rewarding as it presented me with professional, top notch presentations that had moving animations throughout with a song playing alongside it. You controlled your animations through the timeline at the bottom of the page, and by doing this, it took your presentation to a whole new level. It had a whole range of themes and layouts to choose from and I used some of these to create presentations such as my: Fire Shots and Generic Conventions of a Rock Magazine. From using this software, I have learned to create a new style of powerpoint that is unique and effective in what it does. This software has helped me gather my photos and put them together in an automatic moving presentation making an interesting visual slideshow. I could also add a title and subtitle whenever I wanted, therefore allowing me to keep it informative so the viewer can understand what is going on. SlideShare gave me an embed code once I’d uploaded my presentation and this meant that once inputted onto my blog, my presentation became visible. I used SlideShare to upload documents such as my: Enrolment Task, Language and Register, Image Mode of Address and Target Audience Survey. I chose to create my mood boards on this because it is an app that is made for collaging pictures. I didn’t have to save any image before inserting it, as I had to do on other software’s like Emaze or Prezi. It allowed me to search the web and use any image from there as soon as I clicked on it. Therefore, it was easy to use and was the quickest for finding and collaging images. Pic Collage helped me because it provided me with a new and easier way to make collages.

Shortly after, I figured out how to make them into a PDF and transfer them over to SlideShare or Scribd where I could then put them on my blog. I created all the documents I have mentioned on SlideShare and Scribd through Microsoft Word. This software has helped me create my calendars from which I used to complete my tasks each month, my Reader Profile and my Flat Plans.

Therefore, not knowing I could before, I have only used this software to create my Evaluation Question 2, to then transfer it to SlideShare. This website has helped me gain a wider knowledge of the different variety of fonts that are out there. But it has mainly helped me choose the right fonts for my music magazine to make it look more professional and appeal towards my target audience.

Using my PC was much easier than using the Mac as I’d never used a Mac before so it took time to get used to it. My iPhone 7 helped me both in my research and planning and construction of my magazine because I used it to get in touch with my main model and took screenshots of e-mails of me booking my photoshoot. However, as the images I took weren’t the best of quality because I didn’t know how to use it, some of them were unusable and instead I re-took them with my iPhone 7 that had good image quality. However, this camera did help me gather some photos that were suitable to use in my magazine. It was easy to transfer over the images to the computer as well because the camera contained an SD card that stored my images and so, all I had to do was input this into the computer and I could transfer them over.

I used the ones provided at St Peter's University and, even though these linked up with the camera and flashed when a photo was taken, any photo I took would come out too bright. I did not know how to correct this as I've had no previous experience in photography. Therefore, I unlinked the spotlight with the camera. I could dim or brighten the lighting depending on how I wanted it, therefore I was able to get the right lighting for my pictures. The spotlight at the Unit was equipped and owned by my mam and was easy to use as all you had to do was turn it on and direct the illumination.
