She’s been a school librarian for 15 years at both elementary and secondary campuses and an educator and social worker for years before that. She was the Texas Association for School Librarians Councilor and is currently on the ALA Council for Education. She is also on the American Association of School Librarians Standards Committee for the new edition releasing in October 2025. She has served on the Margaret Edwards YALSA committee, a member and Chair for the Texas Maverick Graphic Novel Reading List and currently resides on the Amazing Audiobook ALA Reading Committee.
