On this day I began my college journey. I do not remember the specific classes I had this day, but it is still an important date to remember. After all, it is the beginning of my journey in the humanities at Marshall.

Changing to a Double Major (January 2023)

Originally, I began college as just an English major with a minor in Professional Writing. Throughout my first fall semester and the subsequent winter break, I thought more and more about how I found political science interesting as well. After much debate amongst myself and asking friends and family for advice, I reached out to my advisor and met with the dean of COLA to declare a second major in Political Science.

Highschool Senior Creative Writing (August 2021-May 2022)

This was my second year taking creative writing, and I wrote a comedy story simply called "An Average Night at Walmart." It followed the employees dealing with supernatural entities in the walmart they worked at. This class and story really reinforced the idea that I wanted to do something with writing in my life, creatively, professional, or both.

ENG355 Final Paper (Spring 2024)

For my ENG355 class I wrote a paper on a video game character named Giygas, looking at him from a Psychoanalytical viewpoint. I have always taken paper serious, but this paper was when something began to change. I truly began to realize that my writings could influence people, bring new ideas to the table, and entertain. This thought process laid the groundwork for my eventual final paper in ENG414.

Nominated for Maier Award in 300-400 Level Critical Writing (May 14th, 2025)

My final paper that I wrote for ENG414, titled "Eros Unbound: The Victorian Fear of Non-Procreative Desire" was nominated by my professor for the Maier Award Ceremony of 2026. I see this event as one of the last things I will do in regards to humanities before I graduate from college. This paper and its nomination I see as the culimination of my journey through the humanities at Marshall.
