It's been a varied journey so far - used to work in accountancy practice, moved away for a career change where I studied Marine Biology and have done lots of volunteering in outdoor education and community engagement relating to marine education. Worked over the past couple of years with Calshot Activities Centre, a couple of little Digital Learning Development roles, and in the NPA ranger team.

My main passion is marine conservation, which I still try to occasionally volunteer for with HIWWT.

After focusing heavily on STEM subjects at school, I went to university to study chemistry. Having a lab placement in my third year and a master's project in the fourth, I realised that I couldn't stand working indoors, and I wasn't keen on any of the jobs chemistry had to offer.

Already having a great interest in nature, I started volunteering with the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust in Crackley Wood during my final year, practising traditional woodland conservation methods. This gave me some of the skills, knowledge and contacts to apply for a number of entry level coservation jobs. Thankfully, I was accepted onto the Ranger Apprenticeship with the NPA, and it's been brilliant so far.

I love the variation that this sort of work brings, but my favourite tasks always involve practical habitat management, especially in woodland. I hope to stay in hands-on practical coservation, wherever that may take me.
