The story is about the Navajo Marines of WWII. This book shows the progression of Americans attitudes toward the Navajos superbly. First, they were hated and abused, then they were needed and served their crucial part in the war, then they were appreciated for their service. Amazing book brings great perspective to the Navajo Indians history and struggles. Also full of very rational thought by the main character ans action packed.

It is an extremely compelling story on one trip out into the Atlantic. And the struggles of trying to fill the hold, earn money, and stay safe. This is one of my favorite books because a lot of the story happens around the Maine coast and I know all of the places mentioned, and can relate to the struggles of fisherman and the love for the ocean.

The book discusses, in great detail, the destruction and terrible results of the ferocious storm. The book also addresses the problem of racism as  Abdulrahman faces problems with the police because of his Syrian decent.

I thought that this book was cool because it presents a view that we rarely hear from: a reluctant patriot. The book follows the main character all over the shore of Maine and all through the beginning of the American revolution.
