Everyone learns in a variety of different ways and reacts differently to certain environments. Knowing how and why students think the way they do is extremely important for teachers. Whether it be how they use the different parts in their brain such as the following, being aware of the neutrons and what is occurring in a child's brain is extremely important. This three part framework interconnects to the learning process and every individual uses these in a variety of ways(Gargiulo and Metcalf, 36).

Individual students deserve the right to have equal opportunities for learning from the beginning. When schools offer different ways of perceiving information it is extremely useful. Such as multiple means of representation, means of engagement and means of expression in the classroom. Along with this, comes the use of presenting lessons. Lessons such as visual, affective and auditory.

UDL vs. ID

Differentiated Instruction also known ID allows teachers to be flexibility, creative and help assess students so they can meet their required needs in the classroom. This instructional process wants teachers to recognize their students strengths and needs as a learner just above the students level of instruction(Gargiulo and Metcalf, 50). The main goal is to recognize learners for their individual differences in terms ofreadiness and past data. Through the evolvement the basis of ID which includes product, content and product, ID is accessible to everyone not just individuals with special needs (Gargiulo and Metcalf, 50).

Originally orientated from architect Ron Mace, who had a physical impairment himself, Mace wanted to help make everyday life more accessible to those in need. He created designs for a better environment to help out consumers like him known as Universal Design. Which then led to him become a famous architect who informed the public about the importance of creating accessibility to those in need (Gargiulo and Metcalf, 32).

According to the National Center on Universal Design for Learning, the definition of Universal Design for Learning also known as UDL is a set of principles for curriculum created to help develop all individuals equally. Also known as instruction that includes alternatives for those of different backgrounds, learning preference and abilities.

The framework is generated to be extremely flexible depending on each student matching their strengths and weaknesses with the needs for them to reach their goals. This framework allows us to set goals, use materials and reduce barriers to compromise for the challenges students might face. UDL provides not just equal access to learning but access to information as well, it allows teachers to monitor learning process.
Implementing UDL in the Classroom

When bringing UDL principles into the classroom it is extremely important to be flexible and accommodating, no one strategy can be helpful to all learners. Using UDL to Support Every Student's Learning states, "UDL helps to build student independence, providing options for those who make think and work differently". With the use of charts, peer tutors, computer programs and videos are great principles that can be used in the classroom. Its important for teachers to look at what their students can do instead of what they can't when it comes to the classroom. Like mentioned before not one student is the same, they may have different learning style and preference. Systematic approach to teaching is a network of elements/parts different from each other but performs a unique function for life and effectiveness. Universal design classrooms can benefit all and any kind of learner in today's classroom.
